April is Genocide Prevention Month. Anti-genocide advocates and organizations around the world -- in more than 10 countries, spanning 4 continents -- are planning events to mourn those who lost their lives, honor those who survived, and urge action to end the crisis in
The Cambodian Americans for Human Rights and Democracy, Cause Cambodia, Coalition for a Free Cambodia, and Khmer Legacies will be taking part in this project by holding a Candlelight Vigil in front of the White House, Washington, DC, on Friday, April 17, 2009, from 6 to 9 PM to mourn those who died in the Killing Fields of Cambodia and honor those who survived. On Saturday, April 18, Khmer Legacies will host a film screening about a daughter’s quest to learn about her family’s experience during the Khmer Rouge’s reign of terror.
