Hello, everyone!

I'm sorry I didn't get this message sent out sooner, but...

The Bellewode Symposium is on Saturday, January 30th, and, as usual, we're
having a ball. I'd like to invite anyone who wishes to join me in the pit. It
will be a fun, relaxed time. Here's a list of what we'll be playing:

First Set:
Queens Alman
Maltese Bransle
Gelosia
Heralds in Love
Petit Vriens
Henry VIII Bransle

Second Set:
Jenny Pluck Pears
Black Alman
Sellengers Round
Le Bens Distonys
Black Nag
Chestnut
Tesara

Third Set:
Gathering Peascods
Lovers' Braid
Gracca Amorossa
Heart's Ease
Official Bransle
Rosti Boli
Rufty Tufty
My Lady Cullen

If you need a copy of any of this music, please let me know.

Thank you for your time and attention.

From the College of Bellewode,

Greetings! The Heraldic, Scribal, and Dance symposium is coming up soon, and
the class schedule for the event is now available at
http://spreadsheets.google.com/pub?key=t5EAszbodSspsAcMXSwBEdg&output=html. If
you notice an error (a class I forgot to add, or a different time slot that is
needed) please let me know.

The event website (http://ssmc.truman.edu/BellewodeianBall2010.htm) will be
updated very shortly, but there are a few things I wanted to address. Site fee
will be $5 with the standard $3 NMS fee. This year we will be hosting an inn.
The biggest thing of note, is that the event location has moved. It will still
be on campus of Truman State University, but instead of being in Violette Hall,
it will be back in its old location of Baldwin Hall. Directions and a map will
be available shortly on the website. This location change is slight, as the two
buildings are less then a five minute walk from each other. The ball will be
held in the Student Union Building, also on campus, in a room that my pit leader
says will be great acoustically.

Also, being a college group, crash space is limited, so if you need a place to
crash and I have not talked to you yet, drop me an email (even if its to remind
me that you needed it).

Feel free to cross post this if applicable and I look forward to seeing many of
you there!

The Performing Arts entries at Queen's Prize were amazing! I had such a great
time MC-ing the showcase. It really energized me and reminded me how much talent
and enthusiasm for period performing arts exists within our great Kingdom. I
would like to issue a challenge to any and all performing artists to enter
Kingdom Arts and Sciences with a period performing arts piece. Let's see what
you've got!

I wanted to send out one final reminder about Heraldic Scribal and Dance
Symposium at the COllege of Bellewode this weekend. Information can be found on
our site, ssmc.truman.edu.

In adition to all of our classes, we will also be hosting an indoor regional
fighter practice. For those of you who want to get in one last practice before
Estrella or even if you just want to swing some rattan, feel free to join the
fun.

I know many have been worried about the possibility of weather. While I cannot
vouch for what is going on in every corner of Calontir, the weather in Bellewode
looks clear of ice and snow through the weekend. If you have any questions,
feel free to email me at mlagemann@....

Signed,

Assumption - you are talking about a Euroean Dance class
First: Were you wanting to teach a class around specific dances (eg. EC for
three couples) or styles (eg. Italian Bali, bransles), to a specific level
(eg. Italians are simple, begining EC) or a related subject (eg. Dancing
while wearing a sword, flirting in dance)?
Second: Do you want to teach this as part of the European Dance track of
classes at Lilies RUSH or seperate all on your own?
Third: Contact the peoples in charge of dance classes at Lilies (why - that
would be me!) or RUSH at Lilies (that would be Cathus)

What you will need - music player (live or box), show up at your assigned
class time, know your stuff, bonus points for having cheet sheets for people
to take home. I have a handout on how to be a dance teacher in the sca if
you are interested.

If you are talking Middle Easter Dance Class - Repeat all above advice with
the subsitution of HL Rahil instead of me for the peoples in charge of dance
classes. :-)

I want to hold a class on dances that you can have fun with. now i know its
possible to have fun with any dance, but the ball at bellewode showed me that
some of them could be extraordinary fun when you just let yourself be fun.

this would be, in my opinion, a great beginner class but certainly fun for
everyone. i was thinking of dances like
Official Bransle
Gelosia
hearts ease
petite vriens
i'm thinking maybe heralds in love, but i think those four are great basics in
several styles, but they're also great stories, or active and well FUN.

Thanks you very much for your prompt responses, and yes rowan i would appreciate
that hand out sometime.

this would be European dance,
If this would be said to be a part of any track it would be a beginning dance
with less of a concentration on a specific subset but of dances that i've found
can be very...... free form... very fun. these are the "story" dances that can
be acted or over acted, its a way to have fun with the dance first and
perfection of the dance steps second.
dances like
petit vriens
gelosia
hearts ease
official brasles
i would like to add an english country but the only one that jumps is heralds in
love.

these are the dances that i've found where i can make people laugh or smile and
get them to forget that they are doing this strange form of dancing and realize
that they are having fun.
now its entirely possible my selection are all within a specific subset of
european dances. but as i've told some people before.
I'm not a dancer i just love to dance.

I would like to hold this as a part of the EU dance tract at lilies but as i'm
still gathering ideas for this and another class i'm hoping to hold, i haven't
yet submitted it.

Hey everyone,
It’s your friendly neighborhood RUSH wrangler for Lilies!

I would like to issue a challenge to everyone on this list who is attending
Lilies this year. You all like some aspects of the arts and the sciences or
you would not be on this list. I challenge each of you to teach a class at
Lilies this year, and to take a class at Lilies this year. Remember, for
everything that you know about the middle ages and the SCA, there is someone
out there who is looking for that information. RUSH is a great time to share
that.

RUSH classes do not have to be for people new to the SCA – teach something
that only people at your own skill level might be interested in. Chat with
the folks on this list who you don’t get to sit down with very often and
discuss some hands-on A&S activities that you could all learn from together,
and that other people at the war might be able to join in on. In addition,
there are two tracks that I would like to include in RUSH this year: A Henry
track (to go with the theme of the event), and a military track (especially
for the fighters).

Currently RUSH classes are scheduled in one-hour increments from 10am to
noon, and from 1pm to 4pm, Sunday through Saturday. However, I will add more
slots as needed. To teach a RUSH class at Lilies this year, please go to the
following address and fill out the form:
http://www.calontir.info/rush/submitcourseform.html
Feel free to contact me if you have any questions. LiliesRUSH@...

Please forward this message to any other groups or lists as appropriate.
YIS,
- Cathus

Are you thinking about holding dance classes any other time than Lillies? I
have several (4) people looking for a regular European dance class in the Barony

barony just to find something. Please let me know if you or anyone you know is

There wil be a ball at Cheiftians (Three Rivers) and a full day of classes
(slanted toward italian) and a ball at Carnival (Vatavia).

I've also been know to take my show on the road, occasionally and Forgotten Sea
is just within range. It sounds like there may be enough interest

to make a trip worthwile.

Conrad

Are you thinking about holding dance classes any other time than Lillies? I have
several (4) people looking for a regular European dance class in the Barony of
Forgotten Sea area but we are willing to drive an hour or so outside of the
barony just to find something. Please let me know if you or anyone you know is
interested.

Conrad,
I believe you were my instructor in Standing Stones and have inspired my
little group from Forgotten Sea to continue on with regular dance class. If a
trip can be arranged once a month or so we will provide crash space if necessary
and be greatly appreciative.

Vivan

I need teachers!!! Who wants to teach? What would you like to teach? How
many classes do you want to teach? I have a deadline of APRIL 1ST to have
all the dance classes filled.

We have dance classes sceduled from 10am-noon and 1-3pm the first Sat
through Tues. We have dance ball review scheduled for the same times on
Wed. The Lilies Ball will take place after court on Wed.

We have additional time for dance activities scheduled 1-3pm Thurs through
the last Sat. These can be dance classes, dance related classes (e.g.
dancing with a sword, flirting in dance); a ball, pickup dancing, or
whatever.

Please HELP! Contact me if you are willing to teach dance at Lilies.
