California Parents for Educational Choice (CPEC) sponsors this open exchange of ideas for parents, teachers, students and administrators who wish to discuss or debate educational choice. We welcome all points of view from those who wish to discuss such exciting topics as vouchers, home-schooling, curricular reform, Charters, tax breaks, homeschooling, union reform, taxes for education, de-regulation, politics, etc.
California has rejected vouchers twice, yet Bush and the Supreme Court gave impetus to vouchers for religious schools. Local schools must sort out government school choice issues. Teachers leave our schools because salaries are low while housing costs are high; activists seek housing relief. America’s schools performed just fifteenth on international math and science competitions and politicians from many political perspectives have called for more testing and discipline. SAT test revisions, special education, junior colleges, tutoring, school safety, UC admissions or college finances intrigue many. All is not hopeless: more Americans than ever attend college.
