Hi All,
Welcome to the new California Shopsmith Owners Club. The purpose of the club is so other California Shopsmith woodworkers can share advice, tips and stories about how to use, and how they use, their own Shopsmith. Also, please feel free to post photos of any projects you have made with your Shopsmith, and any photos you may have of your Shopsmith workshop.
I am hoping this club will grow large enough that we can plan demonstrations, events and picnics at various members shops in California. I myself live in the San Jaoquin Valley, in Visalia, about 40 miles south of Fresno and 30 miles west of Sequoia National Park. Pretty much a central location in California.
I am hoping this will be the first club chapter of an organization that will grow across the United States.
Currently I am busy making various projects with my Shopsmith. I have been doing a lot of woodturning and currently offer Shopsmith woodturning classes at my shop, and now I am in the process of designing and making rocking horses for children. I hope to also start classes on this subject in the near future.
I offer evening and weekend Shopsmith woodworking classes, including specialized 2-day classes in woodturning on the Shopsmith. I keep my classes small, allowing no more than 4 students per session so everyone can receive hands-on learning. I also offer one-on-one classes either at my workshop or yours. Please zip me an email if you would like more information on my Shopsmith woodworking classes (dates, times, etc.)
If you're a Shopsmith woodworker here in California, I hope you will become a member and join in the fun. More info will be posted soon. Work safely and have fun.
Sawdust and Shavings,
Scott
