Because of a favorable early wind forecast the race will start Saturday,
December 5, 2009, 9:00 am. It's a good idea to arrive early (7:30 am), to get an
easy parking spot at South Beach City of Fort Lauderdale Lot, and to get rigged
and ready for the 9 a.m. start.
Fort Lauderdale, FL -- The 7th annual running of the Inlet to Inlet Long
Distance Race is scheduled December 5-6, 2009. The i-to-i is the first race of
the US Windsurfing National Race Tour and Southeast Series for 2010. More
information, NOR, etc. can be found on the official race website:
http://www.i-to-i.org
Hope to see you there!
Ron Kern
I just love the Bay! Not now (too cold), but I think it is an awesome place to
sail. Now Dean is a super Ultra Marathoner & doing well last I heard from
him. During that time Brad Duffy was one of the fastest guys on the water;
ASD, CFX slalom boards ( I am sure he can step on the gas) with today's gear.Â
Ian, all them guys. This brought back memories, thanks Nick! We need to
somehow get you back over the Pond.
Just one of those sunny days at Crissy under the Bridge, ahhhhhh!
Everyone have a great Thanksgiving.

Our brother, Tim Thole, asked me to e-mail you all to tell you that his lovely
wife just gave birth to a 7 pound boy Sunday! His name, Kiran Ming Thole. He
doesn't have access to e-mail for a few days, so he asked me to push this out.
Congrats to your & your new addition! Cheers!

11M FW for me & Soheil, 10M. As I was leaving Jean went out & so did StevieB on
his 9M slalom. I think, one more day, Sunday. Get there about 1:30pm-2pm,
picks up from there. It actually looked dead, sailboats not keeling over, but I
found out otherwise, planed off the beach. Wind all the way up to the GGBridge.
Sunny & warmish.
Ocean Beach & the Great Highway looked clean all day for you surfers out there!
Breakfast/coffee at the Ocean Beach area, go for a surf session, get over to
Crissy to sail just past lunch!
Hope this helps to plan for the rest of the weekend!

Crystal clear! Sunny!!!! I can see out to the Farallons. Slight breeze.
Sufers: Real Clean waves today. Rivera Street to Judah, up! Later, Ocean
Beach should be up as well.
Crissy Field Big slalom & Formula for sure. Last night, that was the call, Jean,
Andre & StevieB.
See you guys out later at Crissy!

Tom, Interesting stuff. Gang, just make all you transitions & if all
the wildlife disappear, get going! When I am up top, it gets eerie
when it gets quiet.
I stand corrected, more like 20 footers rolling in now at the Great
Highway.
See you all soon.

As you well know, our end of season party is approaching fast in 2
days. Please RSVP to info@... ASAP if you're coming.
Date: Saturday, 7th November 2009
Time: 6pm - 10pm
Location: Pomegranate Restaurant, 1585 University Ave, Berkeley, CA

Map: http://shopinberkeley.com/p/pomegranate/
You can find further details on the CalCup web site:

thanks!

Hi Everyone,
We have had to move the CalCup party from the Lipman Room, to a private room at
Pomegranate Restaurant, 1585 University Ave, Berkeley, CA 94703, which has not
only street parking, but an off street parking lot.
Times: 6pm prompt - ?
This no longer a `pot luck event, but instead every guest is responsible for
their own tab for food and drinks.
Why did we have to move the venue at such a late date? There is a Cal Game on
the 7th, which we did not know about, and at the Lipman Room, there will be no
parking!
We would like to take this opportunity, to thank our friends at Cal Adventures,
(especially Rachel Herrmann, and Matt Gingo, both from their respective sick
beds,) who have worked very hard to find us guaranteed parking, but on a game
day, even they could not pull this off for us!
The new location will be posted on the CalCup website.
Please contact info@..., ASAP, if you will attend this new venue,
and with your number of guests attending.
We need numbers ASAP to help Pomegranate, give us an amazing evening.
We hope to see you all on Saturday the 7th of November.
Venue: Pomegranate Restaurant, 1585 University Ave, Berkeley, CA 94703
Time: 6pm prompt – till about 10pm
Regards,
Jane & Mike.

Local source is Svendsens in Alameda. www.svendsens.com
There are a few on the West Coast, Fiberglass Supply is probably the best.
www.fiberglasssupply.com
Both sources have everything you need. Fiberglass Supply may be the only place
to get Divinycell by the square foot as opposed to a larger sheet.
Divinycell is not really needed for general board repair on dings and leaks.
You can use thickened epoxy to fill voids and just add more layers of glass for
strength.
Unless you have a vacuum pump and skills like Eva or Mike Z., adding Divinycell
will likely make things weaker because of bonding and forming issues. This is
especially true in areas that have compound curves which is where most of your
dings are likely to be.
Divinycell construction is pretty optimal from a strength to weight ratio
perspective when building a board from scratch. But if you are talking about
patching <5% of the surface area of you board the difference in weight is small
and difference in structural integrity is basically nonexistent (so long as you
have a well executed repair with enough glass).
Save the Divinycell for major structural repairs like buckles or soft spots.
When you graduate to that point let us know, you can be the designated repair
guy when Mike Z. is out of town ; )

this winter- as much for something to do as it would be to fix the leaks-
some of the repairs I need to do are rail crunch, punctures and stress
fractures- Eva the board lady has a great site for guiding the effort
(http://www.boardlad y.com/index. htm) but I an trying to locate a couple sq.
ft. of divinycell and glass fabric to do the repairs- is there a local source
for this kind of stuff? Or west coast?
I haven't had much luck googling divinycell.. ..

Nope, it's not worth 2x the price of the HPL. The red HPL's are stiff and solid;
they're a little heavy, but so is the MS. You'll probably find the adjustment
mechanism a little stickier than the MS (I've got a red HPL, but no MS, so I'm
speculating from having tried that mechanism on the beach, not speaking from
long user experience or anything like that).
MS boom head is getting rave reviews from all its users. I've been using the
strap on that came with my HPL, which was "inspired" in its design by the
Streamlined strap on head. Works, but needs a little TLC once in a while (siping
of bushings to prevent slipping; replacing straps when worn out; that kind of
stuff). It's a rock-solid boom/mast connection - if the MS boom delivers on that
as well, and is as user friendly as people say, then it would be a nice upgrade.
On the HPL boom, there's one obnoxious feature - the adjustment clamps on the
tail have a tendency to break their little plastic lever/retainer mechanism.
That's why you see a lot of them being taped by their users. See if you can
score a couple replacement to tide you over the lifetime of the boom.

price of the this HPL?

molded plastic, and not only does that make for a noticeably less stiff boom
(which is really noticeable when you get really overpowered on that 10, or
you're pumping an 11), but it also creates a weak spot. And while it's an easy
fix when that front end does break, the swim/paddle home is still going to be
anywhere from inconvenient to downright dangerous, depending on the
circumstances.

No article made it through.
Emmett still has not gotten his trophy either. He did sail an 11m sail today
though. Nice size sail for a 12 year old. I'm thinking of calling him little
