Does somebody know if there is a relationship between being blind from one eye and creativity of the “same” or “opposite” side of the brain than that eye?
Congratulations on all of your successes.
May you continue to enjoy your voyage
of discovery!

[CREATIVITYexMaelstrom] RE: updating
contacts and reaching out to you/Aug 25
I am here as well.....but life is just sooooooo fast paced
that emails slip
further and further down the slippery slope of the in-box!
I'm still beavering away on my BA @ Auckland University
and at the end of
this year I will be 10 papers left to complete it (I need
24 papers). I'm
doing 3 papers this Semester in different disciples but
both toward
major/minor.
One of the papers is in very unfamiliar waters, i.e. it's
from the School of
Environmental Studies but it's a Geography paper on Culture/Environment
of
East Asia....having fun if a tad different. Another paper
is History with
Mao Zedong and the Cultural Revolution the focus and finally
a new paper on
Maori Art
I just in the last few days decided not to do a double
major even though one
half of the double is one paper shy of the finish.....so
I had a new degree
planner made today to reflect that matter!
Also in the last month or two I made a decision that if
I do, decide to, do
PG I want to focus on Ethnomusicology and I can do that
apparently with
ease....I have had some papers mapped out within what
is left of my BA, the
spare papers and another area I haven't dealt to yet!!
It's actually a bit funny about this whole caper.......I
started out to do
Philosophy and Maths. I passed Maths but decided it was
too
abstract....moved over to Asian studies which I love but
now found it's not
going to be a goer for PG arena. Had picked up Art history
at the
Philo/Maths timeframe and now it's back to being the minor!
In fact it will
be completed at the end of this Semester (I'm all "over"
Art History).
Home life is still in a 'single' framework....but still
in the my big rental
house....some parts of my personal life have changed for
the better and so
on....
I don't get much time to do any crafts but I dream on
about that...I am
though still involved in running the yarn store at the
Weavers/Spinners
guild (I've a couple of v.large bags of stash in my living
room which is
begin driven there with my chauffeur this w/end); I'm
still the Editor of
the Embroiderers guild News.....both can in blocks of
time!
And that's about that........ohhhhhhhhhhhh it's Springtime
here, nearly
Summer.......and in a few months it will be Summer Recess
from Uni

Yes, I'm here and Yes! I would like
to stay in touch.
You sound busy as usual and happy. May
that continue to be the case for you.
I'm deep in my busiest time of year,
working with instructors on their teaching and gearing up for a new initiative
in developing some new and innovative degree programs. Fun!!
I've had to refocus my doctoral research
because of changes and Chile. I will be concentrating on the learning communities
aspect of the Instructional Skills Workshop and doing interviews with faculty
members here once I take the whole thing back through Ethics board approval.
All my course work is long finished
and I really have to get out! :-)
My garden is producing well and I spend
any spare time picking, cleaning and preserving (also eating). It is a
joy in the long dark winter to open these jars of joy.

"The future is an infinite succession of presents, and to live now
as we think human beings should live, in defiance of all that is bad around
us, is itself a marvelous victory." - Howard Zinn (September 2, 2004

I am updating my contacts records and reaching out to make contact to see how and what you are doing now.
For me I just returned from two wonderful weeks in Costa Rica thanks to the kindness of Rosemary and Barry Rein. We played most of the time. One day 5 of us did a workshop and a performance for the LITTLE THEATER GROUP in San Jose, Costa Rica that Rosemary supports.
Now I am working on preparation for work and travel in September and October.
How about you?

ACA 2010: Call For Session Proposals
The American Creativity Association invites proposals to present at its 2010
International Conference, "Creativity in the Gap" March 21st-24th in
Philadelphia.
Given the rapid pace of change in today's global culture, the space between now
and the future presents significant challenges for professionals in multiple
domains. Creativity plays an essential role in both adjustment and
transformation in the gap between what is and what can be.
Each proposal should clearly state how the presentation will reflect the
conference theme, "Creativity in the Gap."
Proposals should address the role of creativity in one or more of the following
areas:
• Productivity in problem spaces
• Defining problems in context
• Creative identification of opportunities
• Selecting beneficial tools and techniques
• Applied creative leadership
• Advantageous team-building processes
Sessions are expected to appeal to creative professionals and present new
information to conference attendees. Participants should be able to apply the
knowledge acquired in the session to their work in areas such as business,
marketing, new product development, science and industry, academia, education
and training, and the arts. Sessions may demonstrate existing processes in new
circumstances or may introduce original research in the field of creativity.
SEEKING PRESENTATIONS REFLECTING conference theme and applicability to the
following areas:
• Business & industry, education & training, communication & the arts, military
& government, and science & technology
• The repertoire of practical strategies and techniques for creative problem
solving and its application to real-world situations
• "Classic" and new models for creativity and problem solving (Osborn-Parnes,
Synectics, TRIZ, lateral thinking, whole brain, Kepner Tregoe, Value
Engineering, etc.)
• Creative thinking and practice as a key part of the front end of innovation
SELECTION CRITERIA:
• Correspondence to the theme
• Potential to attract and stimulate conference attendees
• Clarity of proposal content and presentation methods, especially session's
learning objectives
• Originality and creativity in content and format
• Potential for practical application
• Relevance to current trends and issues, and appropriateness for international
audience
• Presenter's expertise and experience
• Evaluations from past conferences
