Interested in the C&NW Railway and all of it's affliates in its golden years, before it lost its corporate identity? This is the place to discuss it!

The topic of discussion is the C&NW Railway and its predecessors, including the Omaha Road, The Louie, CGW, etc. prior to the 1995 UP acquisition. The purpose of the discussion will be to foster a better understanding of the railroad, its operations, physical plant, and equipment for the purpose of historic preservation and accurate modeling. Questions and comments about any facet of the C&NW and its predecessors are welcome here, as is discussion of present day preservation of historic C&NW artifacts.

The acquistion of the railroad by Union Pacific resulted in such vast changes as to make the railroad unrecognizable, these topics are beyond the scope of this list, and should be discussed elsewhere. Example: please, no sighting reports of former C&NW locomotives. The North Western is gone, let's remember it the way it was.

This discussion group has no official association with either the Union Pacific Railroad or the Chicago and North Western Historical Society. Discussion of the politics and workings of either Historicy Society is best discussed in their Board Meetings.
