CHIPS_Illinois (Chicagoland Homeschoolers Inclusive Play & Support) is an inclusive, secular group for all types of homeschooling families. Whether you're unschooling, using a more eclectic approach, employing an educational program like Montessori or Waldorf, or curriculum like Sonlight, you'll feel welcome at CHIPS. Our families come from Plainfield, Naperville, Aurora, Joliet, Romeoville, Downers Grove, and other Chicago area suburbs. Our goal is to provide opportunities for social interaction and creative play for our children as well as a place for parents of different homeschool philosophies to meet and interact. Our only request is that we respect each others philosophical and religious differences.
Our group meets every Tuesday from 10:00 to 3:00 at Plymouth Congregational Church in Plainfield. For the 2011/2012 "school" year, we are currently offering the following clubs: Little Ones Literature Club for 3-5 year olds; Writing Club for independent writers of all ages; Gym Club for all ages; Public Speaking Club for 8+ year olds; a Middle Ages History Club for grade school-level kids and another for tweens/teens. We also offer once-a-month science enrichment classes for 3-5 year olds, grade school-level kids, and tweens/teens. The clubs' fees run from $2 to $24 per class. We also request that each member family donate $5 each week towards the rent we pay for our space. Of course, we never require our members to attend the clubs. We have plenty of room for those who just want to meet for unstructured play and fellowship.
Once you join CHIPS, please plan to attend one of our events soon as we would love to meet every one of our members.
Please come and join us as we grow, learn and play together.
