Description
This group is for parents that have Asian adopted children and wish to write a lifebook for their children. The opportunity to document your child's early life history is a wonderful experience!
The group accepts parents of children that have adopted from China, and discusses writing samples based on Chinese adoptions. Other Asian adoptive parents such as Korea, Vietnam, Taiwan, and Thailand are welcome, but we will not have "country specific topics" for countries other than China.
Please purchase "The lifebook writing guide" (author Kay Graap) for guidance and writing tips, available online at: www.scrapandtell.com.
The writing "season" begins in January and continues until late spring. We suggest that parents follow topics and write a rough draft of their child's story before beginning assembly. Follow along, as we journey from the beginning of lifebooks, topic by topic.
This year's team of leaders will inspire you by sharing their experiences. They will help by sharing tips and give you insight into what helped them successfully write their children's lifebooks. Once you have a rough draft of your topic, share it with the group! This group is so popular because everyone shares ideas and various viewpoints...
The group will keep posts limited to one topic Monday-Thursday, and then relax a bit for "free for all Fridays." Weekends are generally a time to catch up on posts and write your own lifebook text.
We welcome any questions and suggestions. All adoptive parents and families waiting for a referral are welcome to post ideas and questions!
We hope you have a terrific experience and enjoy the fresh new ideas presented this 2008 writing season!!!!!!
