The Cable Committee Consortium for Broadband (CCC_B) discussion group is an online forum for members of the Cable Advisory Committees (CACs) of municipalities in northeast Massachusetts concerned with Broadband cable services. The core group consists of CAC members from certain former AT&T Broadband towns in the northwest suburbs of Boston that had been striving to receive these services before Comcast came to Massachusetts.
The charter of the CCC_B is as follows:
- To encourage solidarity between the CACs of towns regarding Broadband cable services by the sharing of relevant strategies in dealing with the Cable Operator in this context
- To share the experiences of towns that have already successfully transitioned to Broadband cable services, and/or have DSL availability or municipally-owned Broadband systems
- To exchange information regarding present and future Broadband technologies (both cable and non-cable), especially by means of links to online resources
- To provide the latest news regarding the evolving regulatory framework for Broadband services and its impact on negotiating future Renewal Licenses with Cable Operators
- To organize and report on occasional face-to-face meetings between group members, and to facilitate mutual participation in relevant Public Hearings or other meetings sponsored by member CACs
- To conduct polls and coordinate press releases and position papers regarding matters of mutual concern, so as to provide a venue to "speak with a single voice" to the press as well as state and federal authorities
This discussion group is unmoderated (so please be judicious in your posts!). Membership is subject to the approval of the group owner. Members are encouraged to invite fellow CAC members from their own town or from other towns to join this group.
