I have a new portable jump start. 300 amps with 600 amp peak. Could i use this to power my Palomar? Or would it hurt it. I have a home made power supply that is from a computer power supply. I have tried it with the Palomar, and it did not kick the power supply off. Does thin mean it is working right sense it did not kick the power supply off? Or am i getting the full power out of the Palomar with it?
The Wisest Investment You"ll Ever Make Is In YOURSELF!
This may sound stupid but how big of a power supply would you need to run a Palomar Elite 250HD. Would a Pyramid 12amp work? Also i have a chance to trade for a Uniden 78 Elite and a Midland 5001Z both are brand new. Can anyone tell me about them? Thanks
The Wisest Investment You"ll Ever Make Is In YOURSELF!
Pardon me for this post but I have been looking every where for the manual and any other papers that came with a Palomar FC-40 Freq. Counter when it was new manual instruction etc., will pay $20. dollars for copies or original. Just thought someone here might have filed away.

I have some very nice Johnson radios for sale. Model SDL-6065. 8 channels with speakers all hardware for them. The radios look almost like new. 35 watts. Freq. is in the 400-512 range. Will also do trading. I also have some nice Motorola HT-90 portable 5 watts radios for sale or trade, freq. is also in the 400-512.
The Wisest Investment You"ll Ever Make Is In YOURSELF!
Some people has emailed me and ask if i could send them pictures of it. And some has emailed me about trading for a radio with extra channels. On the pictures i have tried to email them, but it comes back undeliverable. So the ones who has emailed me about picture, please send me your email address. And for the ones who wanted to do some trading, i have not heard back from you. If you are still interested please send me a email. Thank You.

I have no idea how many people in the groups that is a member of CB Radio Tricks. But some people is asking about CB shops. I live in Indiana and the CB shop i am talking about is over 200 miles from me in Michigan. Some may already know about him and maybe has used his shop. But stop and think, how many times have you called a CB shop to ask them something that is wrong with your radio. What do they say? Bring it in and we will bench test it. So you take it in and they look at it and say will its going to cost this to fix it. And if you say no i can not afford it at this time, than most likely they will say that it will be any were from 10-30 dollars just to bench test it. And they have you because if you don't pay for it they will keep your radio. They know what they are doing. I have not had Wildcat CB Shop do any work for me as of yet,
because he has helped me over the computer on some stuff. He could easily say ship it to me and let me bench test it and see what is wrong with it and than charge you for the bench test and shipping to get your radio back. But he does not do that, he will try to help you over the phone or the computer, and not charge you one penny. You have to know he cares about people and radios to do something like this. So if you have a problem with your radio, Please send him a email at wildcat2488@.... I know if it comes down to it and i need my radio worked on, he would be the person i would send it to.

I have a very nice Palomar Elite 250HD that i would like to trade for a good Dosy meter or i am looking for a radio with extra channels. Were i live all of the people here is below or above. There is no one to talk to on the regular 40 channels. Now as the Palomar goes i bought this brand new and i hardly ever use it. No one has ever been in it. I take care of my CB items. This Palomar looks as new as the day i got it. And i also have a President Zachary T that looks good and works perfect. I can email you pictures if you like. Please email me at bigal46563@.... Thank You

Well there are a few ways to figure that out. Grab a screwdriver, the tool not
the drink, and pop one apart and find the crystal or crystals. They are probably
1/3 of the output frequency so multiply by three the number you see. Or, search
the fcc website for the fcc id that is on the walkie talkie. Or, grab a scanner
and scan around 49 while keyed up. The fcc id goes like this. The first 3
didgits are the manufacturer and the rest are the model number.

My experience is that rubber ducky antenna is useless in a car. The metal car
won't let the signal out. Take the same walkie with antenna socket ont he side.
Adaptor like:
http://www.radioshack.com/product/index.jsp?productId=2104055&CAWELAID=107597000
And connect the walkie to a roof magnet mount antenna. That's what I do, and
it's successful.
And, you can use the roof CB antenna on your house, driving it with a CB. Won't
work with TV antenna.
Camping. Magnet mount vehicle antennas need some metal under the magnet. Might
work off an old steel Coleman ice chest. I'll admit, I've not tried. Maybe off
the top of your folded up camp stove?
Many walkie talkies come with a lighter plug cord, which is what I use in my
truck. Lighter plug brings power in, antenna takes signal out.
Some "HELP" radios do much the same thing. I got a HELP radio on Freecycle that
was broken. But, the power and antenna cords fit my GE 40 channel walkie rather
nicely.

I want to use it in a car, and also, maybe sometimes in the house.
Let me get this straight, if I buy an adapter, I can use an antenna that is
set up above my house?
I also want to use it for camping, so I will probably still need the bigger
portable antenna.

Hello Everyone,
I'm new to the boards here. I'm also kind of new to CB's. I recently bought two handheldCBs at a flea market, both seem to be older models: Cobra HH-35WX and GE3-5980A. I understand that the 'rubber duckies' that come with the CBs are pretty much useless for range. I'm interested in getting a better antenna. I seen a 'Cobra HA-TA Hand-Held CB Antenna' on the internet that I think thinking of buying. Here is my question... Is this the best antenna that I can buy for a handheld? If not, can someone tell me which ones are better (or best)? Thanks in advance!

The Cobra, I wasn't able to find that on the net. If the walkie has only a
rubber ducky antenna, the range is probably 1/4 to 1/2 mile, from walkie to
walkie. Less in the city, more on open plains. I talked one time a full mile,
the other guy was on a base with roof antenna.
Many walkies have a Motorola socket, you used to be able to get adaptors to
connect that to a car or base antenna. More range, but less portable.
What's your intended use? That would be very helpful for us to know.

I have some nice Motorola Maxar radios i would like to sell or trade. They look good and works perfect. I am looking for a good SWR/Watt meter or a good working CB with extra channels.
