Description

CALBIRDS is for discussion of wild birds and birdwatching in California only. Suggested topics are bird sightings, identification, status and distribution, birding locations, and non-commercial announcements from birding organizations. You may use the Photos area to share photos temporarily to discuss identification, and the Bookmarks, Calendar and Files sections to share information with the group.

This list is designed to have a statewide scope. For lists which operate on the county or regional level, please see Steve Holzman's county list page.

A signature is required at the end of every message and must contain your first and last names and your city.

All messages are required to have an appropriate subject in the Subject field of the message. This allows for workable searching of the archives in the future, and the ability to follow a thread. Messages without a subject will be removed from the archives and anyone posting such a message, including responses, will have their posts moderated. This means that a listowner must approve each message before it goes out to the group. Many email programs have a feature that warns you if you are about to send a message with no Subject. If yours has this feature, turn it on. Otherwise, type your Subject before starting to type your message.

All messages and files posted to this list or its web site, whether explicitly marked or not, should be considered to be copyrighted by the author. While this material may be quoted on this list for purposes of discussion, its use elsewhere requires prior written permission of the original author.

Banned topics are pet birds, virus warnings, commercial announcements or ads (other than California Pelagic Trips and Birding Festivals).
