Description

The Cajon Pass Group gathers all those people interested in that part of the Burlington Northern Santa Fe Railroad that goes from San Bernardino to Victorville, California, known as Cajon Pass. The Cajon Pass Discussion Group is an on-line discussion for persons involved in the Cajon Pass Group.
Our purpose is to pool our resources and our research efforts and to share information among those of us who are interested in modeling Cajon Pass or who want to help preserve the railroad history of that area.

Jeff, I believe the area you are talking about was called "Cajon Mountain Camp" according to the sign on the water tower there. This according to Alice Eby

Route 66/I-15 timeline
Some links provide more precise dates for highway changes over Cajon Pass. Route 66 was upgraded to expressway in the lower pass in 1952.
