The Burtonsville Garden Club was founded in 1989 by a group of neighbors in the Burtonsville (Maryland) area who were a wee bit passionate about growing plants. It was federated the following year within the National Capital Area Federation of Garden Clubs, where the club still maintains its membership in District I.

Meetings are held the 4th Thursday of each month (except Nov and Dec) at 7:30pm. Meetings are held at the Marilyn Praisner Library on Old Columbia Pike.

Our club meets January-October, and while no meeting is held in November, a club gathering is usually held in early December at a member's home to construct a holiday arrangement. The club's program consists of 8 meetings where an invited speaker presents a lecture, one meeting where small flower arrangements are made for Meals on Wheels, and a club social held every June at a member's home. We also schedule a bus trip to the Philadelphia Flower Show each year in March, as well as field trips to 'local' (doable in a day) gardens.

In addition, the club participates in the Beltsville Garden Club's plant sale held every May at High Point High School. This functions as a method for the club to raise funds for its speakers (as members are asked to donate plants for the club to sell), and as a community service, by providing a diversity of plants at an affordable price.

We encourage anyone with an interest in gardening, whether beginning or advanced, to join our club. Members are relaxed, knowledgeable, and very friendly.
