23% of labor force is of Roma origin: World Bank

Sofia, 23/01/2012 - 23% of labor force is of Roma origin, according to the World Bank data. We strongly believe that investment in Roma education and inclusion is smart economy, World Bank Vice President for Europe and Central Asia Philippe le Houérou said at an international conference in Sofia about Roma integration, FOCUS News Agency reported.

He congratulated the Bulgarian government on its national strategy. He described it as a very strong signal of commitment.

Denmark’s ambassador to Bulgaria Kaare Janson said the Roma integration issue was important to both Bulgaria and Europe.

Bulgaria could be inspiration with its impressive changes, said the ambassador, adding that many countries had not yet worked out Roma integration instruments.
