This group is for the more open-minded person who wishes to explore, and contribute to, the mutual love, respect, and understanding possible between these two traditions of belief. Contrary to some views, they are *not* mutually exclusive, nor one better than the other, and I have had many exciting discussions with people who are delighted to learn this. Obviously if one stays at the level of dogma and literalism, one can always find some scrap of paper or example that seems to imply that 'these' should somehow be against 'those', but the aim of this group is to explore the healthy, good, positive, mystical commonalities of these two faiths, in order to clear up questions in people's minds and to discuss reading material, experiences, etc., for the benefit of all. THERE WILL BE NO CONDEMNING TOLERATED AT ALL. (I am allowed to be the wrathful embodiment here.) The whole point is to find mutual perceptions, which most often take place on levels informed by love and not by fear. I am a ngakma (Buddhist priest) in the Yangzab branch of the Drikung Dzogchen Kagyu, an ordained non-denominational minister (raised Catholic), and closely involved with the founding of Celtic Buddhism, encouraged by Chogyam Trungpa and His Holiness the Karmapa to Venerable John Perks, who now heads the growing movement. I also studied paganism for 18+ years.
This is a chance for people to expand their wisdom and compassion to benefit all, and to get past the limits of narrow perspectives. Ready? (:
