The last time the   RV  was  in Blackpool was  1955

The   Queen  was also present in Blackpool for the only other time the show was staged in the seaside town - in 1955.

George Formby, Arthur Askey, Reginald Dixon and a young Morecambe and Wise topped the bill on that occasion.

The Opera House is the largest theatre outside London, and will host 3,000 people for the charity gala evening.

Love to see an old tape of that show,
but it aint gonna happen ... is it  ?

just to remind you that these are songs and poems performed by celebrities, including a good helping of names from the world of british comedy:

Roy Hudd, Mike Harding, Andrew Sachs, Prunella Scales, Susan Jameson, Tony Hawks, Bernard Cribbins, Rodney Bewes, Trevor Peacock, Emma Chambers, Roger Lloyd Pack, Robert Lindsay, Tessa Peake Jones and and Tim Brooke-Taylor are all there.  These albums make great comedy Christmas presents, so please write off list if you want any.

Thanks,

Hi,
mine is a radio show.  It's the episode of Radio Active sending up the fly-on-the-wall documentary.  Stars Angus Deayton, Philip Pope, the late Geoffrey
Perkins, Michael Fenton Stevens (hilarious as inept DJ Martin Brown, the Frank Spencer of the radio mic), Helen Atkinson Wood.  The best bit is where the
camera crew are moving the furniture around in the house of the poor unsuspecting family.  They lift a sofa, and the producer says: "This is radio, so
don't just lift ths sofa.  say something so that the listeners know what's going on.  perhaps something like 'Up your end'".  So Mike Flex and Mike Stand
lif and keep saying Up Your End, until they bust the lightbulb.  When the producer says they'll have to pay for the damage, one of the Mikes says...you've
guessed it: Up your End, Mike!
There's a nice piece of irony when they drive away from the house they've completely wrecked, with the police after them, and Michael Fenton Stevens (as
Martin Brown) starts singing the philip Pope-composed:
"Hold a chicken in the air..."  I think one of the radio episodes of Alan Partridge's Knowing Me Knowing You comes a close second.  On Telly, it's the classic
Steptoe episode where Harold wiv an haitch wants to go around the world on a sloop, so Albert shams sickness to keep him at home.
Best,
Clive

What is your single favourite episode of your favourite comedy. Mine is Just
Good Friends series 2 episode 5 when Vince & Penny go to Portugal, maybe it
because it's just the two of them in the whole episode, with a great script by
John Sullivan, but their reactions to the lines are brilliant.

Peter Kay produces new Children In Need track

Comedian Peter Kay has produced another single and video for Children In
Need.

The Phoenix Nights comic's latest project will premiere on BBC One on
November 20. The video will include 100 British and American celebrities,
according to The Sun.

"It's taken two years of planning to create the video and I just know people
are going to be both astonished and delighted," said Kay. "It's been a real
labour of love but the result is joyous, potentially another 'Amarillo'!"

Kay has previously released covers of '(Is This The Way To) Amarillo' and
'I'm Gonna Be (500 Miles)' for Comic Relief, both of which reached number
one. He also scored a hit with his comedy alter ego Geraldine McQueen last
October, landing the top spot with spoof single 'The Winner's Song'.
