I'm hoping that someone going to Kris Kinder could do Maeve and I a favor. There
is a senschal/chatelain meeting there and neither of us can be there. Its the
weekend before finals and tere is just no time. If someone could go to the
meeting and take notes, we would be grateful. if not, I have to let the acting
kingdom seneschal know.

Not planning on going. Work's been kinda crazy with a bunch of people either
quitting or being fired, so I generally have no idea when I work. Also, the next
event I am planning on going to is Crown Tourney in January.

Saturday, January 2nd I have rented the community building here in Elk City. I
will be there around 11am. Bring sewing machines and projects to work on. Place
has a full kitchen and bathrooms. Lots of tables and chairs and room outside for
parking and fighter practice. Bring a covered dish and your ideas. Closer to
time I will send a reminder, directions, and a menu for folks to post what they
will bring.

We would like too but will wait for Crown in January. It is a very limited space
for merchants and meetings this year. Hopefully they will have more room for
everyone next year at Kris Kinder.

An Ansteorran of my acquaintance told once about finding someone trying to break
into his car during an event. Would I could see the look on the perpetrator's
face when he was thrown down before the autocrat amid cries for justice.

Word is already floating all over Glean Abhann. Sad as this is its good to see
it go out on so many lists so quickly. I'd bet that by the end of today there
won't be an SCA place, flea market or swap meet within 1000 miles that will be
safe to sell this stuff.  With such a small niche market where this kind of
thing ir sellable I would be willing to bet the property will be
recovered. This kind of cooperation makes me proud to be a member of the
society

Have you sent in an award rec recently? If not, please think about it. Look
around and see who's doing what. If you think someone is putting out some
effort, or showing promise in an area, send in an award rec for that person.
There is a form online at http://www.calontir.sca.org/award/award.html that you
can use, or you can write a letter and send it by mail. We are the eyes and
ears for the Crown when it comes to awards. They don't look through the reports
that officers send in, they rely on award recommendations. All those lovely
comments that you hear the Crown saying to recipients of awards come from the
award recs, so be specific in what the person is doing. Please don't think that
the Crown doesn't know you so they won't pay attention to your recommendation.
They might not give out an award if on the recommendation of just one person,
but when they get several, or many, all telling them what someone has been
doing, they are impressed.

You dont have to be a paid SCA member to either make a award rec, or receive an
award.

You might PRIVATELY e-mail others to send in award recs on someone, but don't
send it to the list. Kind of spoils surprises.

And your job doesn't end there. After you send in an award rec, try to get that
person to nearby events and STAY FOR COURT!! Valens and Susannah's first court
at Lilies was distressing because of the number of people they called up to give
awards to who didn't bother to go to court. They got called up in mass at a
later court. That's just not the same as kneeling before the King and Queen and
have them talk to you.

Sorry we did not make it out. I had planned to be there, but for some
reason, I had it fixed in my mind that it was on Sunday, and by the time I
learned otherwise, it was late in the afternoon. Iain and I were in the
middle of a building project (Stand for a 55 gal aquarium for our ball
python) and figured that by the time we got cleaned up and dressed, it would
be over.

Glad it went well.

I'm glad to hear that everyone enjoyed themselves, I know the fighters did. We
had an excellent turnout, and I want to thank everyone that donated, the chuch
was more than happy when we filled up two full shopping carts. And I would say
thats its a safe bet to say that we will DEFINATELY do it again next year.
Thanks again to everyone.

The Shire of Bois d'Arc along with Haven Support Services will be having a
food drive this Saturday, Nov. 21st, at the Nazarene Church gym at 816 E. Quincy
in Pittsburg. The fighting will begin around 10 AM. Bring donations of
nonperishable food items and stay to cheer on the fighters! All proceeds will be
donated to the Wesley House of Pittsburg so that underprivaliged families can
better enjoy the holiday season.

I was thinking of bringing stuff for the fighters to munch to keep up their
strength and keep entertaining the masses(we hope) and bringing baked goods to
sell or  bargain away for more canned goods is a great idea.

could get several folks from different areas to come beat on our shire members
for a good cause. Is anyone gonna bring baked goods to sell for donation money?
I was thinking about baking some cookies and brownies for more money to go to
the cause. YUMMMM, make some rice crispie treats too.
