If you check with the Reading for the Blind you might find that the cook books
you have are already avaliable on CD. Just put in the Title or the ISBM number
and see.

Can anyone tell me of any organization that will read books on tape for
individuals?  I have some cookbooks that I would like to have in an
accessible form.  Even if I could get them scanned, it would help.

I have been asked by people from both lists.  I should have made it clear before
in my intro.  I live in Brisbane Queensland, having recently moved back here in
March last.  Upon my separation from my  husban who lives still, thankfully, in
Melbourne Victoria about 2000 kilometers away.  Queensland is in the north of
Australia, known by all ausies, and some non-ausies i expect, as the sunshine
state.  It is where the great bbarrier reef is located and many sunny holiday
resort islands.  I grew up here so my parents and only sister live here.  I
moved away from my family to marry, what a mistake that was.  I am totally blind
and have a golden dog guide, Oakley, who is currently winging for me to feed
him, it is his dinner time.

My name is Katrina, I am 41 and newly single.  I have my young daughter with me,
so I am also a single mum now.  I have two older sons but both have chosen to
live with my xes, of which there are two.  This is very painful for me, since
due to my last husband being physically and emotionally abusive, I have had to
move away from my home and return to live with my parents who live 2000 kmss
from my two boys.  But I felt I had no choice.  Due to the stress my last
husband put upon me, I had a stroke in 2003, so as well as being vision-impaired
I have residual effects from the stroke, mainly epilepsy,  hence the need for
parental and sisterly support which I can only get living this far away from my
boys.  Appearance-wise,  I am blonde, about 163 cms, about 69 kgs.  My
professional and employment background is in psychology and counselling.  So,
one would think it would be easy for me to heal myself.  However,  I find this
very difficult, since women who have suffered through domestic violence lack
confidence and self-esteem, as well as a host of other problems.  However,  at
least due to my background, I know what to do, where to go to get the resources
I need, to rebuild my life.

Hope this email reaches the group,  I am not wonderfully skilled with the
computer, so any tips are welcome.  So is anyone who wants to communicate with
me.  I am finding that my internet and skype friends are a great support to me
at this time.
