Libertarians are independent, principled people who are self-reliant and who have reluctantly entered the political arena in order to re-establish the values (individual liberty, personal responsibility, and small government) that made America unique and different from all the other experiments of the past. Some libertarians vote Republican; some vote Democrat; some vote Libertarian; others don't vote at all.
The message of self-reliance -- not government dependence -- is particularly important for our African-American communities. For far too long, black Americans have been listening to Jesse Jackson and Al Sharpton instead of listening to themselves, their families, and their communities.
Black_Libertarians is a social, outreach, and general-discussion forum. How can we draw more black Americans into the libertarian movement? From Booker T. Washington and Zora Neale Hurston to Roy Innis and Jimmy J.J. Walker, African American libertarians have had an immense impact on the libertarian movement at-large.
