El primer registro para Lima es de: Ortíz de la Puente, Javier  1952  Los patos del Perú.  Pesca y Caza [Min. Agricultura, Dir. Pesquería y Caza, Lima], no. 4: 1-20, quién lo reportó para la Laguna de Villa.  Sin embargo no he podido verificar si el registo es de él o de otra fuente.

 

Ortíz de la Puente preparó en 1948 un manuscrito titulado ‘Aves de la Laguna de Villa y alrededores.  Primer aporte a la ornitología peruana.  Trabajo de especialización en zoología, cuarto año de Ciencias Biológicas, Seminario de la Facultad de Ciencias.  Universidad Nacional Mayor de San Marcos, Lima’.  Ahí podría haber habido más información, pero lamentablemente no fue publicado y se perdió después de su deceso en un accidente vehícular.

 
En esas épocas no habían criaderos.

But one friend has a record and pics of three white-faced whistlings ducks flying over the Tres Chimbadas Lake.

I just saw a photo posted in Best pics in Birding Peru web page,

it is a white faced whistling duck, anybody knows about the origin of this duck? is it wild? or is escaped or is just a weird pet?, the photograph was taked in April, any comment?
