This group is for the purpose of learning and teaching self sufficiency gardening/farming for residents of the "Big Island" of Hawai'i.

Our purpose is to join together and help each other develop some
level of essential food production in our own yards and farms as we
are soon to be faced with severe food shortages accompanied
by skyrocketing prices for that which remains available. We are very
vulnerable to these changes..even more so than the rest of the 49 states
of the US.

There will be moderator posts relating to print and/or online publications that will be of interest to all of us who are cultivating edible crops for home and/or commercial use.

Members are also encouraged to post information that is on topic
and if they feel it will also be pertinent to the reason for this
group's existence.

Members can also barter, sell or trade products and/or services
on this group. We all, from time to time, require help
that we cannot do ourselves and what better way than to let other group
members know that you have some experience to share on
a barter or 'legal tender' basis.

Membership is open to all residents of the "Big Island" of Hawai'i and nearby islands and there are no fees of any sort required to join or submit your own questions or answers to questions posted by other members. If you do not live in Hawai'i, this group may not be of much interest but you are welcome to join if you are into tropical gardening/farming as we do it here in Hawai'i nei.
