Hi Everyone,

 

I have just visited the new walk-in urgent care literally a mile from my house (on Shallowford, just northwest of the Shallowford/I-85 exit). Some of you had recommended it to me.

 

There was no wait, they took insurance and credit cards – they recommended $4.00/scripts for me to add to an antibiotic I started yesterday and I literally started feeling better within 2 hours.

 

Both of the rotating physicians are emergency medical physicians at DeKalb Hospital so if you feel sick or need to see a doctor on the weekend or after normal office hours, including needing stitches, etc., they are open Monday – Sunday from 11 – 8 – since I find that I typically need a doctor after office hours, that was great news to me!

 

Check them out and bookmark – hopefully you won’t need them, but if you do… FYI, they are 2 minutes from the CDC, 5 minutes from the Chamblee MARTA, 7 minutes from Brookhaven, 8 minutes from Dunwoody. If you need help while in this area or, if like me, you found other urgent care centers closed except when your regular doc is also open, it’s good to know of an alternative. By the way, my visit was standard BCBS office copay – at the emergency room it would have been at least 600.00 minimum, probably a lot more.

 

I wish I had known there are a lot of strep, bronchitis and sinus infections out there in addition to the general crappy malaise/flu people are getting so if you are feeling punky/puny with a cough/cold and then like you feel that you’ve swallowed razors through your ears, you may have something that WILL require an antibiotic – unfortunately, what starts innocuously as allergies and a simple cold can easily leave you vulnerable to strep when you would ordinarily not get it (I found out the hard way).
