in December.  All the kicks and jumps have brought so much excitement to
everyone in the class and we just could not have enough of it.  So let us come

classes for over 20 years, and I've never seen Charleston taught so well.

The autumn is in full swing in Beijing.  The clouds are dancing with the wind
and the tree leaves are swinging with the color changing.  Let's come out with

A great time to be in Beijing!  National Celebrations, Autumn's Glorious Holiday
Weather, Flowers and Fireworks. Did you notice the civilian dance groups
parading by Tiananmen Square? Well, we'll be celebrating ourselves this Saturday
at the Sino-Chu, so wear something red and come join the fun! There may even be
a Moon Cake waiting for you!

We have lots of news of our own. First of all this Saturday Mei and Herman will
teach the last class of their series on INTERNATIONAL FOXTROT. They've been
doing a great job introducing this elegant but technically demanding style. We
plan to teach International Standard Waltz in the future. Can't wait? Speak to
Mei about taking private lessons! By the way, some of our members have been
taking "Standard"  dance classes in XiCheng with master teacher (previously

One sad note: recently two good friends and active members of our club had to

Our International Foxtrot Class has proved popular. Mei & Herman have taught the
"Three Step," "Feather," "Reverse Turn" ("Heal Pull" for ladies), and the
"Feather Finish." We will review these steps and move on during the next two
Saturday classes.

As many of our students have learned, even the basic steps of International
Foxtrot require good technique. It takes patience and hard work to learn to
dance Foxtrot elegantly. But it's worth the effort!

September is INTERNATIONAL FOXTROT month at Beijing Ballroom. All month at our
pre-party class we will teach steps and basic techniques of this classic

This summer we continue our WEEKLY Saturday dances. This is a step forward for
our dance club, since last summer we only held monthly dances in July & August.
Of course we miss our members who are gone for the summer, but on the other hand
we have some fine new dancers who keep our parties going strong. So join the

This Saturday and next Saturday at the Sino-Chu we will have two final SLOW

Every Saturday in May (7:30-8:30pm) we will be teaching WALTZ. This class series
will be an introduction to Waltz in its many different varieties. It will teach

Our Milonga class last week was very well-attended. It's always great to learn

"Milonga" is a kind of Argentine Tango "Quickstep." But don't worry, it's not
difficult to learn. We guarantee you'll be able to dance Milonga by the end of
your first class!

Our recent West Coast Swing class series has now ended. I'm proud that over the
course of the last year or so Beijing Ballroom has had some success introducing
this great dance to Beijing. At our Saturday parties more and more people are
actually dancing "West Coast." Maybe that's because West Coast Swing can be
danced to all kinds of music -- everything from hip-hop music to blues and
foxtrot.

This Friday begins the "International Lindy Exchange" sponsored by "Swing

Having just returned from the U.S., our wonderful dance teacher Young Xue will

The Lantern Festival came and went and with it passed weeks of noise
and madness in Beijing. Now this Saturday we celebrate Valentine's

This Saturday is our LAST PARTY before Chinese New Year!  Before the
party Mei & Ken will teach our third and final DISCO-HUSTLE class
from 7:30-8:30 pm.

OUR ANNUAL FINANCIAL REPORT: In 2008, Beijing Ballroom contributed
1,665 Rmb to the victims of the Sichuan Earthquake. Our non-profit
club has 1,560 Rmb in its account as of Jan. 11th. Last year our only
expenses were for simple flyers/advertisements, holiday decorations,
birthday cakes, etc. We have no dues. The money we collected came
from last year's successful New Year's Party, the fees students paid
for classes, and from direct contributions from our teachers. WE
WELCOME SMALL CONTRIBUTIONS FROM OUR MEMBERS!
