Bay Point, California is a small dynamic, working class, ethnically diverse community situated between Concord and Pittsburg California. Situated along the great San Joaquin Delta that forms the mouth of the Sacramento and San Joaquin rivers and north of the beautiful Mt. Diablo State Park, Bay Point boasts moderately priced homes and nearby access to fishing, boating, hiking and other outdoor pastimes. Bay Point's close proximity to San Francisco and California's state capital, Sacramento provide residents with unmatched cultural and recreational outlets.

This region was occupied by Ohlone Indians for thousands of years. Spaniards came upon the area in late 1700s in search of easy trails. When Mexico won its freedom from Spain in 1821 it awarded large estates in the area to supporters, who turned to cattle ranching. California became a U.S. state in 1849, and shortly thereafter, coal was discovered nearby. Both world wars influenced the area's industrial development. During World War I, U.S. Steel built a plant in neighboring Pittsburg, and World War II saw nearby Port Chicago serving as a military ocean terminal. The community which had been known as "West Pittsburg" saw one more change in the early 1990s-it became "Bay Point," reflecting both its location, its history and its independent identity. In 1996 BART extended service to Bay Point, providing residents with a rapid rail connection to most of the Bay Area.
