Hi all, my name is Lawrence Eng.
In the last 18 months, you may have met me at one of several tech-related
events here in San Diego. I work as a researcher for Opera Software
( http://www.opera.com ), makers of the Opera Web browser on PCs, phones,
the Nintendo Wii, and other handheld internet devices. I'm starting a new
research project (for Opera) analyzing the ways different people use the
Opera desktop browser. As such, I'm looking for interviewees. Craigslist
would get me a lot of responses, but I'm asking you guys because I know
you as a group and trust your recommendations.
Here's who I'm looking for:
Requirements:
-You browse the Web on a fairly regular basis from your home computer
-You're at least 18 years old
-You live in the San Diego area
-You're willing to install Opera on your computer (for the purposes of the
study)
-You're available for me to come to your home to do an interview, or you
can meet me in a pre-arranged public place
Compensation:
Interviewees will be compensated for their time. ($100 for about 2 hours,
plus one brief follow-up meeting in person and/or online)
If you're interested, you can apply by emailing me at
lawrence.eng[at]opera.com with the following information:
Name
Age
Sex
Zip code
Profession and place of work (if applicable)
How many hours do you spend per week on the internet?
What is your general availability (i.e. days, nights, weekdays, weekends)
What are you hobbies?
Have you ever used the Opera browser? If so, when and for how long?
Do you have broadband internet (i.e. cable, DSL)?
Where/how did you hear about this opportunity?
Please forward this to your friends and family as well. I'm looking for a
good mix of people of different ages and professions, including:
-people who have never used Opera before
-people who are Opera power users
-people who are really tech savvy
-casual and non-technical internet users
There are only 15 open slots, so please send in your applications soon.
The cutoff date for this notice is May 15th, 2008.
Many thanks,
Lawrence Eng, PhD
