The BVI-Education mailing list is a list for the discussion of all aspects related to the education of blind, partially sighted and deaf-blind students, as well as visually impaired students with multiple disabilities.
Topics of discussion may include, but are not limited to: getting textbooks in accessible formats, adaptive graphics, assistive technology used in the classroom (computer, Braille notetaker, etc.), teaching specific subjects (math, science, P.E., etc.), testing and examination issues, questions relating to extracurricular activities and field trips, teaching Braille, Orientation and Mobility (O & M), daily living skills and other expanded core curriculum subjects, issues related to the Individualized Education Program (IEP), homeschooling, inclusive vs. special education, legal issues relevant to blind/VI students, social skills and behavior issues in the classroom, and coping with blindness or visual impairment in school situations.
Welcome to this list are blind and visually impaired students, parents of blind children, teachers, instructional aides, TVIs, O & M instructors, employees of schools for the blind and anyone else interested in the education of BVI students. This list discusses all levels of education, from early childhood intervention to college or university.
Let's talk on this list in a manner of mutual support. Each person has his/her own perspective, but we can all help each other by sharing information, experiences and tips.
