In my opinion (and only my opinion, not the Board's, and not anybody
else's to my knowledge), this group is beginning to veer seriously
off topic.

I went back through my inbox to try to find the invitation to join
but cannot find it. However, I was under the impression that
BUSDinfo was started in the interest of disseminating information
about BUSD. Personal opinion, proselytizing, or venting of various
frustrations was not to be part of the conversation and words to
that effect were included in my now-missing invitation.

I have read every post in this group this afternoon, and I can see
that in early April Mr. MacDonald (who has a way of steering
conversations far afield) was asked to please stick to the topic,
i.e., receipt and delivery of information regarding BUSD as she
exists today. I appreciate the reiminder.

Now we are in the middle of a general call for unity and a debate
about the merits of unity, majority, conformity, dissention,
oppression, resistance, democracy, war-crimes, inclusion, and (I
think) dissemination of "the proper" information to public so as to
foster unity.

I thought this was an information-only list. I respectfully request
that we return to that focus. Especially since question-by-question
answers are apparently being addressed on the CHAT website.
Furthermore I strongly believe it is the charge of the new BEF to
determine what sort of message goes out to the public in order to
effectively raise funds, not that of the staff at the District
Office, employees of which can really take no part in fundraising.

In my experience, as soon as person-to-person conversations or
congratulatory messages appear in any news-only list that is the
moment the "news-only" aspect jumps the shark.

Personally, and not speaking for the Board as a whole,

Shirin Samiljan

... I'll support you in that opinion. I regret ever having let an opinion slip into what should have been an information-only post about Alameda's parcel tax...

I've never seen just information posted on this site--it seems to be about 95% opinion. So which opinions are ok and which aren't? Denise...

Oh Gack. This is the problem with stating the one essential fact in an authoritative voice: when you get the fact wrong you then have to take the time to go...

It is a good reminder. Additionally, what may be seen as our own confusion -- those of us who have brought up topics and viewpoints to consider -- may well...

... I think maybe the problem lies with the nature of a yahoo groups list. It is by nature, an exchange and a dialogue. With dialogue, opinion--not to mention...
