After a stormy morning the skies cleared for a pleasant, but buggy hike through the picturesque Pontiac Lake State park. It seems the rain scared away most of the people for the Saturday morning hike. Just two hardy souls, Arlene Pearson and myself showed up. Oh, and one hardy dog. I'm dog sitting this weekend and brought along my friend's English Shepherd, Yates. It was like the blind leading the blind as neither of us knew the area very well. After about an hour and a half in, neither of us having a clue where we were, flagged down a mountain biker who had trouble unclipping and went flying. Holy moly, it looked nasty. So I immediately informed him it was Arlene's fault. My shoulder still hurts from when she hit me. Fortunately the startled biker came up laughing and got us straight on where we were and how far we had come. We figure we put got in about six miles. No guessing how many the dog got in as he was all over the place. Afterward we had a nice picnic in the picnic area. As Arlene and I sat and enjoyed a gorgeous afternoon, the dog enjoyed the day in his own special way by rolling around in the surrounding goose droppings. Yewh!! So I had a little more fun cleaning him up when I got home.
We had so much fun, we decided to do it again next weekend. Hope to see you there.
