Mike

I started up a W2K machine 5.00.2195 SP4 with IE 6.0.2800.1106.  It didn't have BPQ32 on it.  Then I downloaded from the BPQ32 Yahoo Group BPQ32_410c_2007Dec20.exe and ran it successfully.  Doing the things you noted, I get no errors.  All appears to be fine.  There are later updates for W2K, which I am currently downloading.  After that Ill uninstall and reinstall BPQ32 and try again.  If BPQ32 then shows this problem Ill post that here, but I am really not anticipating any problem.

I went to http://support.microsoft.com and searched for 0xc0000142 and there is a bunch of stuff trying to explain the problem.  Similarly I googled 0xc0000142 and there is a ton of stuff there.  Ranging from virus infestation, conflicts with anti-virus software to corrupted OS files requiring reinstallation of the OS.  I don't know what to believe.

Are you making entries yourself in the registry using regedit?  If so this shouldn't be needed, the installer does all of this for you, and removes them upon uninstall.

As to opening 6 or 7 bpq's, yes depending upon the configuration quite a few programs do start, this is expected.  Exactly how many?  I would have to study your configuration to tell you, but in my typical application there are 5.  To this I could add bpqtelnetserver, bpqstatus, etc if I wished.

Hopefully John will respond.  I suspect he is away at the moment.

Ron, N5IN

Ron,
It is working and here is the two things I did.
Uninstalled AVG Antivirus and I was taking a copy of bpqcfg.txt I
already had saved on my other computer and both computers have the same
latest version of bpq32 and just copied it to my computer with ar
cluster well I unregistered it in the registry using the bpq program
uninstalled bpq rebooted computer reinstalled BPQ set registry redone
bpqcfg from scratch with the on that just reinstaled then reinstalled
AVG and it seems to be working fine I am going to leave it on all night
for testing thanks Mike KC8FWD

Without more details I can't be sure what you are doing, however your node should show up in TheNet with a quality which is set in TheNet as the default, or you could have set a locked route in TheNet which would result in a quality number set in that locked route.  Are you not getting even the BPQ32 node to show up in TheNet?  If that later is the case perhaps you are suppressing node broadcasts in BPQ32.

Things to check for:

NODECALL, NODEALIAS, BBSCALL, BBSALIAS ... these are likely correct or you would get an error when executing bpqcfg.exe.
BBSQUAL=255 would be a typical setting.  The results in the BBS being received with a quality of 255/256 times the quality of the node.
NODESINTERVAL=15 will result in nodes broadcasts every 15 minutes.
I assume you are not using the APPLnCALL/APPLnALIAS parameters.
In the ports section where you define parameters for your radio port you should have a non zero quality setting, such as:
QUALITY=192

You should see your radio transmit a nodes broadcast every 15 minutes, which will contain the nodes information.  Are you seeing this?

Does your TheNet node equipment indicate it is receiving a signal during that transmission?

You did not say if your TheNet node was receiving any other node broadcasts, perhaps the problem lies there.

If you wish you can e-mail me your bpqcfg.txt file as well as your X1J4 configuration file.

Ron, N5IN

Within 24 hours of startup, BPQ32 locks up. I run it on a Server 2003
machine that hosts an Apache web server as well as an AR-Cluster and FTP
Server. The OS, Web and FTP servers and Cluster are not affected when
BPQ32 locks.
I also run BPQ Telnet Server. That locks up along with the switch. There
is no particular timing to the lockup.
When it locks, the icon in the tray is not accessable. The only solution
is a system reboot.

Any suggestions on where to start looking first ?

Hello,

Is anybody else noticing bogus nodes like the "DISABL" node shown in this
screen-capture?

http://www.rgvham.com/rgvforum/index.php/topic,21.0.html

It has no callsign to go with the alias, and it prevents NetRom and BPQ
NODES lists from working properly.

Besides "DISABL", I have also noted an "OFF" node here from time to time.

These bogus nodes are local, but only show up during band openings when it
is possible to node-hop out of our area.

They first appeared after a TELPAC node was installed at the local police
department by a "ham" that nobody here knows and who does not participate in
any of the local nets, etc...

During a band opening where DISABL was not active here, I node-hopped a few
hundred miles up the Texas coast - and found another "DISABL" node up there!

Heads up, folks. - The WinLinkers do not like networked packet radio and
apparently are out to "DISABL" our ability to utilize it.

We had that in the Metro Denver Area as well. I think what they
found is when Winlink is turned off, the TNC is set then with
DISABL. I will contact the guys that discovered this and what the
solution might be and repost here.

Charles

I have seen two ways this will sow up,

1 if the station is using AGW DIGIPeater by default Disable will show up

2 If the station is using BPQ32U_410 in the ports section UNPROTO=DISABLE or OFF instead

of committing the UNPROTO= Out

I am sure there is other ways for this to happen, I have a local station sending the same Disable

Then spreads threw my network on 5 AXIP Ports.

Sorry I can’t be of any more help.

Nothing to do with winlink or Telpac, only less than complete knowledge of
modern TNC settings.

This is likely a newer version KPC-3Plus TNC which has the factory default
"Node ID timer" setting of once every 10 minutes (IDINT 10).

Find the new TNC (perhaps yours?) and set instead
IDINT 0
NETCALL %

(Node ID interval disabled, NETCALL disabled)

From the KPC-3 Plus User's Guide:
IDINT n   (n = 0 - 255)
Default 10
The IDINT command sets the time interval (in minutes) between node ID
packets
(not node broadcasts). Setting this command to 0 disables node IDs.

As I see it, the main problem is Kantronics set IDINT 10 as the default in
that particular TNC version. Setting IDINT 0 solves the problem. But
that's only based on my experience with this TNC. YMMV.

I'll share my experience with Don K7BFL, and hope it helps. Thanks. Now,
back to BPQ32.

I to am having problems with BPQ32 Lockups.
Here is a capture file from Dbgview. There were three crashes during
this capture.

Programs running are WinFBB, UI-VIEW, UI-Webserver, and Weather
Display, No Firewall
is currently running and AVG has been Uninstalled.

It's been a long long time but it looks like it's once again time to
run BPQ... It may be the ideal solution to my remote computer (WIN98
- for Airmail on another port) with a TNC feeding the main packet
station back in the shack with AXUDP. Given the BPQ will provide
AXUDP data and also a highly programmable node presence, the one
question remaining is: Is it possible to somehow access BPQ via IP
and then talk to the TNC as a dumb terminal emulator? The TIP
functionality in JNOS does this. While I expect to normally be
running in KISS mode it would be nice to have the remote access to
tweak the TNC and put it in or out of KISS.

Thanks and 73,
Bill - WA7NWP

I had hoped someone with more knowledge of FBB would have replied to you, and perhaps they will.  However the configurations in  c:\Program Files\BPQ32\Examples\Medium can't be too far from what you are looking for.  The application happens to be a DX Cluster, but you could just change the applications parameter to:
APPLICATION=BBS
and you would be almost there.  You need to change the calls/aliases/IDMSG/BTEXT and such things which obviously need be changed to be applicable to you.  Of course your TNC must be set in KISS mode.

Now as to configuring FBB, hopefully someone else here will step up....

Hi David,

Start BPQ32 then try to connect to your Node ID, not the BBS. If it connects BPQ is working.

; TNC default parameters:
PACLEN=236  ; Max packet size (236 max for net/rom)
; PACLEN is a problem! The ideal size depends on the link(s) over which a
; packet will be sent. For a session involving another node, we have no idea
; what is at the far end. Ideally each node should have the capability to
; combine and then refragment messages to suit each link segment - maybe when
; there are more BPQ nodes about than 'other' ones, I'll do it. When the node
; is accessed directly, things are a bit easier, as we know at least something
; about the link. So, currently there are two PACLEN params, one here and one
; in the PORTS section. This one is used to set the initial value for
; sessions via other nodes and for sessions initiated from here. The other is
; used for incoming direct (Level 2) sessions. In all cases the TNC PACLEN
; command can be used to override the defaults.
TRANSDELAY=1  ; Transparent node send delay in seconds
; Level 2 Parameters:
; T1 (FRACK), T2 (RESPTIME) and N2 (RETRIES) are now in the PORTS section
T3=120   ; Link validation timer in seconds
IDLETIME=600  ; Idle link shutdown timer in seconds
; Configuration Options:
AUTOSAVE=1  ; Saves BPQNODES.dat upon program exit
BBS=1   ; 1 = BBS support included, 0 = No BBS support
NODE=1   ; Include switch support
HIDENODES=1  ; If set to 1, nodes beginning with a #
   ; require a 'N *' command to be displayed.
; The *** LINKED command is intended for use by gateway software, and concern
; has been expressed that it could be misused. It is recommended that it be
; disabled (=N) if unneeded.

; Applications supported:
; The first three are reserved for BBS, HOST and REMOTE SYSOP. Five

;Commented out as this configuration supports only a single application:
;APPL4CALL=N5IN-2
;APPL4ALIAS=PCTRF2
;APPL4QUAL=255
; APPLnCALL/APPLnALIAS defines 'call's and alias's associated with the
; positional parameters in APPLICATIONS=. N may assume values of 1,4,5,6,7,8
; as 2 and 3 are reserved for host and remote sysop. These calls/alias's
; announce themselves in node broadcasts unless their associated APPLnQUAL=0.
; APPL1CALL, APPL1ALIAS and APPL1QUAL, i.e. for n=1, replace the earlier
; defined BBSCALL/BBSALIAS/BBSQUAL if stated. The 'call's may include any of
; the characters A-Z 0-9, up to 6 characters in length, and optionally an
; SSID. Thus APPL4CALL=ABCDEF as well as APPL4CALL=AA0AAA-13 are valid. A
; connection to the APPLnCALL='call' will execute the nth positional parameter
; in the APPLICATIONS= string.
;
; AGWtoBPQ.exe includes an 'Applications Mask' created from the position of
; the 'application' in the APPLICATIONS= string. The mask is formed from the
; sum of the numbers 1,2,4,8,16,32,64,128. Thus in this configuraton the
; applications occupy positions 1 and 4, with associated masks of 1 and 8,
; which added together equal 9. Thus when using the AGWtoBPQ interface the
; 'Appl Mask' must be entered as 9.

So i don't understand why
but it's normal Im a french guy so i'm slow hihihiihih

I had hoped someone with more knowledge of FBB would have replied to you, and perhaps they will.  However the configurations in  c:\Program Files\BPQ32\Examples\Medium can't be too far from what you are looking for.  The application happens to be a DX Cluster, but you could just change the applications parameter to:
APPLICATION=BBS
and you would be almost there.  You need to change the calls/aliases/IDMSG/BTEXT and such things which obviously need be changed to be applicable to you.  Of course your TNC must be set in KISS mode.

Now as to configuring FBB, hopefully someone else here will step up....
