Hi All, we have been reading the examples & notes and have become totally
confused.
At present a RF user can come into the vk2dot BPQ32 system by -
c vk2dot   - & goes directly to the BPQMail BBS 0r
c vk2dot-1 - & goes to the BPQ32 Switch or
c vk2dot-7 - & goes to the Chat session.

What we want to do is have the user type ->
c vk2dot-2 - & goto a remote PC running Linux/XFbb  via a RS232 port &
c vk2dot-3 - & goto a remote PC running Linux/JNOS2 via a RS232 port.

I cannot see how to do it via the applications section

APPL1CALL=MYCALL
APPL1ALIAS=MUDDX
APPL1QUAL=255

Its 5:30am, could be one has missed something or it cannot be done.

Anybody have any suggestions:

Regards Rod  VK2DOT....////

Hi Jim,

You have your RMS listed first in the APPLICATIONS=
line, but listed as application 3.
Your BPQCFG line needs to look as follows:

APPLICATIONS=BBS,CHAT,RMS

That is the first thing to fix, then see what happens.

Rod,

The user would need to type C [port#] VK2DOT-2
(or-3) where the port number is the one that has
a path to your Linux boxes.

You can also add a command to the Applications
line that will just use a name like 'FBB' or
'JNOS' for the connect..
That speeds things up for user since they only
need to type in the 'name' and hit enter.

The line would something like this:

APPLICATIONS=FBB/C [port#] VK2DOT-2,JNOS/C
[port#] VK2DOT-3

(that should all be on one line)

Did we (Hi John) ever get the application line length extended beyond the 16
(?) characters. That was just limited enough that almost anything I
needed to do was too long to fit.

PS. I hope this posting works. It's funny when yahoo rejects the gmail domain.

I do not have ANYTHING in the PORT section for my RMS. I don't think it needs a
port. What you do need is the RMS in the application section below as it accepts
INCOMING connections.

As noted your applications line needs to be:

Applications=BBS,CHAT,RMS

Then, re-compile, and wait just a minute...

In AGWtoBPQ configuration you will need an application mask of 0x4

Save and kill AGWtoBPQ and then restart everything, starting RMS last. AGWPE
does not need to be running at all.

Then, be sure that you have RMS set as application 3. See what the call is
now...

Hi Bill & Mark, Unfortunately you have both missed the point.
At present, using a number of remote XRouter Nodes - a user can at a remote site
[hundreds of miles away] type C VK2DOT-2 & be automatically transferred through
the network to my Linux/XFbb BBS; or a local user can type C VK2DOT-2 on his
machine, then come through a local RF port to Linux/XFbb or to BPQMail BBS, etc.
They do not have to connect to the BPQ32 switch then again connect to the
application.
ie. From anywhere within my network you just type C VK2DOT-Application &
automatically go to the application, NOT firstly connecting to BPQ32 switch then
manually retyping to go to the application.

I want to replace my local XRouter with BPQ32 & do as above.

That is the problem, sorry we did not explain the objective enough.
Any further ideas.

Plus I believe the restrictions for Applications line length is still 16. This
is very restrictive for my users;

Rod,

You need to set up XFBB and JNOS2 as applications with aliases, and add the APPLn calls for those applications:

APPLICATIONS=BBS,CHAT,FBB/C n FBBCALL,NOS/C m NOSCALL

APPL3CALL=VK2DOT-2
APPL4CALL=VK2DOT-3

A connect to APPL3CALL will cause the alias for the 3rd APP to be actioned.

The current version still has the 16 char limit on each entry. I am currently testing a change to extend both the length and number of applications.

73,
John

Hi All, we have been reading the examples & notes and have become totally confused.

APPL1CALL=MYCALL
APPL1ALIAS=MUDDX
APPL1QUAL=255

Its 5:30am, could be one has missed something or it cannot be done.

Anybody have any suggestions:

I am glad to  see I am not alone here …

Thanks

It is up and looks to be running fine. I will go live this weekend and see if it
works on both RMS and BBS.

Does anybody have (or know somebody who has) a written report (a
web-page, a newspaper article, or else) related to the experience with
using BPQ as a software that can simulate a hardware node talking to
another node. I mean, when two BPQ computers are connected in a LAN they
behave similarly as 'real' hardware nodes talking via RF.

The same question goes for other node software that are good in talking
with BPQ over wired LANs.

I plan to write a book chapter related to software that can simulate
various things and thought about BPQ. I myself has some experience with
it but it would also needed to have more sources that I could reference
parts of my text too. (Those sources would become more popular then :-)

I have been away for a while and will continue to be...

But looking at it today... BPQMAIL chat is working only on HF RF Packet and
AXIP forwarding...
Winmor and Pactor have both stopped working.. (no forwarding on either)

As of this visit to my station...

Not doing a reboot just yet as like I said RF HF Packet and AXIP is
working...

Next visit I will see where it is at and decide then if it needs a reboot...

Hi Hank… Bare with me… John is going to look at it again shortly when he has time.. For now it seems to :

1: When a WINMOR forward is done and actually disconnected mailchat shows it is still connected to said station even though winmor and the radio clearly show they are not. Thus preventing any further forwarding attempts on winmor or pactor.. Usually after a reboot I get one pactor and one winmor session in.. and its done.

2: MAILCHAT will close all by itself after a while maybe a day or two.. Gets tired… Anemic or poor blood?? I do not know… lol

3: I forget the last problem.. Bad headache… Maybe it was the ahh.. cant remember…

Will be home for a week or so taking care of my wife after her surgery tomorrow.. I will drop in very occasionally to reboot if /when needed.. to try to keep it running as much as I can…

Thanks…   I’ll be back

Curious if anyone has used WinFBB against BPQ32 with both packet and WINMOR
ports? Basically the same thing some are doing with BPQMailChat, except replace
BMC w/ WinFBB instead. This a feasible setup? Curious as I'm examining some
options.

Thanks

Jerry,

IN105 has a lot of ports on it....

Have you tried stripping the node side of things down to maybe just a VHF packet
port, a HF packet port, and AXIP. Let that run for a few days, I suspect (from
your posts) that is fine and will run great...but burn it in for a few days w/o
all the extra ports, pactor, and WINMOR.

Then add pactor back in. Letting things run for a week or two before adding the
winmor. If it gets unstable when WINMOR is added, then back out and try WINMOR
but w/o pactor. See how that plays.

Maybe that way you can isolate what is causing the problem, might be pactor,
might be WinMOR, or maybe the mix of both?

Anything interesting in the system event logs?

Best wishes for your wife's recovery.

I have been away for a while and will continue to be...

But looking at it today... BPQMAIL chat is working only on HF RF Packet and
AXIP forwarding...
Winmor and Pactor have both stopped working.. (no forwarding on either)

As of this visit to my station...

Not doing a reboot just yet as like I said RF HF Packet and AXIP is
working...

Next visit I will see where it is at and decide then if it needs a reboot...

Jerry,

IN105 has a lot of ports on it....

Have you tried stripping the node side of things down to maybe just a VHF packet port, a HF packet port, and AXIP. Let that run for a few days, I suspect (from your posts) that is fine and will run great...but burn it in for a few days w/o all the extra ports, pactor, and WINMOR.

Then add pactor back in. Letting things run for a week or two before adding the winmor. If it gets unstable when WINMOR is added, then back out and try WINMOR but w/o pactor. See how that plays.

Maybe that way you can isolate what is causing the problem, might be pactor, might be WinMOR, or maybe the mix of both?

Anything interesting in the system event logs?

Best wishes for your wife's recovery.
