Rod... I see DOTBPQ:VK2DOT-1 in the nodes list of MOBRA. I can connect to it okay using
c dotbpq. I can forward thru DOTBPQ to VK2DOT.

I do not see DOTBBS:VK2DOT in MOBRA's nodes list, but it is in DOTBPQ's nodes list.

I am using BPQ32 (n).  I see that you have not yet upgraded to the latest.

John & others, is it possible to have more than one AXUDP ports.

ie one has a AXUDP link to a remote node on the AXUDP port 4, but notice that the netrom nodes has six ways to get to the remote.
I have locked the route but still cannot connect to it from BPQ32 [vk2dot-1]. The locked route from BPQ32 looks like -
VK2DOT-9,220,4,2,7000,236

on doing a n vk2dot-9  from BPQ32 [vk2dot-1] the following results -
220 6 4 vk2dot-9
1 0.00s 4 vk2dot-9

When we load the BPQ32 software initially, we cannot connect to the remote node [vk2dot-9 or XFbb vk2dot-2], after a nodes broadcast from vk2dot-9 & vk2dot-2, we can see the node vk2dot-9 & vk2dot-2 but still cannot connect to them. The call vk2dot-9 & vk2dot-2 are displayed on the AXIP MHheard screen.

If one removes the fixed route, then after restart - & XFbb vk2dot-2 is displayed on the AXIP MHheard screen, we can connect to XFbb vk2dot-2 from BPQ32 [vk2dot-1]
However we can connect from vk2dot-9 node to BPQ32 node with no problems. but, we cannot connect to node vk2dot-9 from BPQ32 [vk2dot-1]
After we disconnect from XFbb vk2dot-2 from BPQ32 vk2dot-1, reconnection to XFbb vk2dot-2 from the BPQ32 node vk2dot-1 will not occur.
on doing a n vk2dot-9  from BPQ32 [vk2dot-1] the following results -
1 0.00s 4 vk2dot-9

Then at other times we have noticed, The initial connection occurs sometimes and an ACK comes back - but BPQ32 will not connect to the node [vk2dot-9].
Most of the time no connection traffic occurs!!!!
Connected to the remote node VK2DOT-9 node is XFbb BBS [VK2DOT-2], & one has no problems connecting to XFbb from BPQ32 [VK2DOT-1]

We cannot work out why from BPQ32 we can connect to XFbb sometimes, but not the node in between.

Also, we have been told that the BPQ32 node [vk2dot-1] is not being broadcast thru AXUDP but can be seen on my remote node [vk2dot-9].

Anybody have any ideas.

Hi I have two bbs's one F6fbb DOS and the other a Winfbb both
will forward personel messages. When a bulletin is sent it stays
on the machine both machines act the same.
I have the bbs listed in both bbs.sys and in the forward.sys
I have G all, G # , G us , G ww all on separate lines
What have I missed for only the bulletins not to forward.

Our net on 14.098 is being inundated with what has to be classified as Malicious interference.. Unless……….

N4ZKF tried to explain this a while ago..

What I am seeing and hearing is a S9 - +20 signal a solid tone carrier… Like AM would sound like on sideband.

No data no voice.. Just the tone..

We are aiming antennas and MixW waterfalls in efforts to locate and ID this station…

Anyone willing to help assist would be appreciated…

We realize this maybe an accidental thing… But has been going on for sometime and seems to be triggered when ever anyone tries to forward at differing times of day…As though it was manually being keyed.

If its accidental I hope we can help the ham fix his problems… Maybe someone is trying HF packet using AM instead of HF?  You know the benefit of a doubt thing…

Hi Bob,
I would think that G WW woukd begin sending bulls between the two if you have
bulls addressed to @WW. The other tow examples might be hit and miss. I don't
think I have eve seen a bull sent to @# or @ALL.

Try replacing your entries with G * (thats an asterisk or "wildcard")

This will send EVERY bull one or the other receieves onward. Not the best thing
to do but doing so will proove out your bulliten forwarding. You can late define
what bullitens you want forwarded keying on the G "@" field.like @USABBS which
in your forward script would be G USBBS.

Don't know if your are familiar with WSPRNet. It is a propagation
protocol started by K1JT. It is meant for low power qrp and very low qrp
beaconing but I see a few stations use higher power. It sounds like a
continious tone. The confirmation is if it what your are hearing is
lasting exactly 2 minutes and starts right at the start of a minute UTC
and ends on the minute than it is WSPRNet. The designated base freq is
14.0956 but I see in the activity log there have been some as high as
14.097165. Of course it is only 50 hz wide or less and would show up on
your waterfall as a solid line about the width of psk. Probably not what
you have going but wanted to make sure you are aware of WSPRNet. My
BBS/RMS at 3595khz is just above the WSPRNet 80 meter freq.

Worth a shot to find out. I always thought it was a locked up TNC or machine
that was on our net with us. Maybe I'm wrong.

It was so bad last week, I shut my 20 Meter port radio off for 2 days. (not
that the band was any good anyways) Hi.

That's a possibility, but you would think it would of showed up before now. The
14.098 LSB operations seem to be down about 150 or so on 14.09785 LSB dial from
my monitoring, this would put the CF right around 14.09615.

From this page it looks like most of their signals should be in the 14.0971**
area:

http://wsprnet.org/drupal/wsprnet/activity

Not a real well thought out frequency choice IMHO. Not like the digital segment
on 20m is as crowded (outside of digitalcontest weekends when you can kiss it
goodbye) as some of our other bands...surely a better spot could of been
found....especially for stuff that is going to be this active airtime wise.

Looks like some sort of WSPR contest/special event this weekend on 20m with a
focus on 500mw operation:

http://wsprnet.org/drupal/wsprnet/map

Like Robert said, should be unique and easy to ID due to it's cycling/start
times and very narrow bandwidth on a waterfall.

Just installed the WSPR software this morning, may do some monitoring this
afternoon.

Jeff.. I will look over the website.. But from what I saw yesterday,,, The system/person does not listen to see if the freq is clear.. As they would squash many an on going qso on the net….

Would help if we had an understanding of what their system is supposed to do.. maybe someone has something set wrong… And can clear up the problem…

Oh it had not been all of a sudden.. n4zkf can probably remember when this all started better then I but its been going on for some time…

Jerry & all...

Just from reviewing this:

http://physics.princeton.edu/pulsar/K1JT/WSPR_2.0_User.pdf

I don't see that there is any "busy channel" detection going on. It's automated
and tx is just timed then it listens for WSPR signals for a bit.

I'm fairly certain now that you guys are probably getting some QRM from this
frequency choice they made if you're using a standard rx passband. You described
the QRM as AM like, how wide does it appear to be in a waterfall display. WSPR
should look like very narrowband FSK...thin line on a 2500 hz passband display.

Looks like they are using a very tight 200 Hz software passband approach. So
your packet modulation several hundred Hz away is probably going unnoticed
amongst all the other mod' products floating around in just about any 2.5 Khz of
our HF digital spectrum anymore.

Some of the WSPR guru's could probably offer more insight.

Explains why they are in the automated operation subband, but a bad freq choice
(IMHO). Then again, you can't hardly find a spot on our very crowded digital
sub-bands where you don't get (unintentional) QRM from/to someone when running
in automatic mode. If you pick a spot today and all are happy, months later
someone else will be fussin' grin. A problem that will only get worse as more
and more "modes" come out and folks wanting "their area" to camp out within
already overcrowded spectrum.

Personally with unique nature of the HF noise floor and the wide variety of
digital modes in use, I just don't think we'll ever see a busy channel detector
that works well...beyond the human ear. That's why I feel our current HF digital
"automated" band-plan approach is pretty flawed...not that I have an easy fix
though. Unintentional QRM on/to automated systems is just going to be the nature
of the beast.

For now I think we're probably better off just focusing on tighter rx passband
filtering. Folks running with wide rx passbands are just..well frankly...asking
for problems ;-) Yeah it's not a complete fix, but it can help in many cases.

Ok on the NET098 name versus actual freq...I understand now ;-)

Gentlemen,

There is no busy indicator in WSPR. I have experimented with the mode
this winter. Enjoyed sending out 160 meter beacons and then looking on
the following website:

http://wsprnet.org/drupal/wsprnet/activity

and then looking to see who heard my signal. It is a mode meant for low
power qrp propagation studies. The software uses the soundcard and is a
very narrow band FSK. Data in the signal include callsign of sender,
Grid Locator and power output in dbm. You set up the software to only
listen and decode or additionally transmit a 2 minute beacon
periodically. All received data gets uploaded to the above website. The
idea that being so narrow and low power that it should do very little qrm.

In my experimenting this winter the 5 watts or lower is enough to met
the intent of the mode. However I have seen 100 watt stations which is
not in the spirit of the mode. I have my BPQ node on 3595khz and the
wspr activity is just below my Winmor,Pactor passband. Most stations are
just above noise (quite adequate for the mode) but there is a station
that put outs 100 watts and "burns" a line in my waterfall. It is these
guys that cause the real interference. I do tighten up the filters and
are not bothered by him.

The mode has been around for a year or so. It has only been recently
that some "lids" have started using the mode and going above 5 watts.

When you hear the signal, note the time. If it last two minutes it is
WSPR. While listening to it go to

http://wsprnet.org/drupal/wsprnet/spots

Specify the Band as 20 meter and within a minute you will see all spots
of activity on that band. (you can hit your browser refresh also to see
if it has updated) You should be able to determine the offending station
this way. I bet they will be running more than 5 watts. If fact it is
probably the guy in CN85no at 100 watts. The high power signal I get on
80 is from the same grid square.

Hello Art
Thanks for the quick response, I see from your examples that my problem is
addressing I had been using SB ALL INSTEAD OF
SB ALL@ALL THAT MADE THE FORWARDING WORK. I have had the DOS
board since about 1994 with the decline of packet I never had anyone to forward
to. A couple of years ago I joined this group down loaded the 32 bit version of
winfbb along with the g8bpq which worked effortlessly in the DOS version, anyway
I now forward to my second station which is 20 miles away. I have one station at
home and the other at work( I am self employed ) I do have another question
about the 32 bit version winfbb 700i I donot have a server directory and I
cannot find any server programs my systems complains that the wp server didn't
start, although addressing does come from wp
I am particuly interested in the multi server.
thanks for your time and if anyone has info please jump in

There used to be. He and I used to forward on 14.098. He just “disappeared” one day and I end up with a BBS full of mail and personals

with no place to go. I gave up. No email, nothing there either.

You have to be around before I pay attention.

Hello folks. I dont mean to impose, but I'd like to make a roster of the USA BBS'S, its hosts, and frequencies, including scanning. Packet and Pactor II & III. If you would please, your call, the State/States covered, and possible secondary BBS's for local forwarding. With this file, we may see & be able to adapt addressees and bulls to best possible routes. I will sent this file when completed to all sysops and interested users. Please
help.

Please
help.

First off I'm no BBS guru by any means, still learning as I go along. It strikes
me that we've come a long ways since last summer, but we've still got a long
ways to go. Not fussing, it's beta s/w and it takes time ;-) but seems we've got
a lot of new BBS's out there. Lot of potential for things, but we seem to have a
lot of "islands' out there.

Let us see if we can avoid the usual RF vs Internet linking wars in this. Such
stuff doesn't really matter if the system never gets built to begin with or what
remains sets around unused (beyond pumping bulletins around) 99.9% of the time
for whatever the reason.

Seems we can get the usual fare of bulletins around okay. Maybe not the most
efficient setup, but it works.

A big problem seems to be "p-mail" routing/forwarding? Look at the path WB3DTG's
message took to get to me..wow.

I tried to reply to WB3DTG back when I saw his message, but my little BBS was
clueless on how to get the message to him. Would getting the WP system in BPQBBS
going help with this some? Does this allow a BBS to figure out how to route mail
to a distant (non-neighbor) BBS? Or would I need to "hard code" a reverse route
back to his BBS? Forgive my cluelessness on this, but I doubt I'm alone ;-)

I don't think everyone can or will do HF forwarding to everyone. Plus HF
forwarding seems to be at crossroads today. Do we do packet? Do we do pactor? Do
we do WINMOR? Do we do a mix? Just an observation, not fussing.

I don't think every BPQ BBS can have AXIP links to everyone else...it gets
unwieldy pretty fast.

Not bashing the NE FlexNet folks/efforts (Bob & all are doing their best to keep
things on the air), but they seem to be on a island to most of the rest of us.
Might be a few Pactor (via the aging Winlink classic s/w) links to them...but
who and where? If I enter a msg on W1HAD (up in CT) for someone back on my BBS
here in Kentucky...it has no clue on how to get to me and vice versa.

WESTNET? Best I can tell that hardly exists anymore. N6MAT and a few others are
fighting the good fight out there. Anyone with an AXIP/UDP link into California
or is it RF to N6MAT only at this time?

Thoughts?

Just me or is this odd? Looks like the "node polling" gets itself into a bit of
a loop at times? THis is "node polling" traffic between MOBRA (KB0WSA-6) and
KYWIL (WA4ZKO-5):

13:11:54R KB0WSA-6>WA4ZKO-5 Port=8 <RR C P R0>
13:11:54T WA4ZKO-5>KB0WSA-6 Port=8 <RR R F R0>
13:11:55R KB0WSA-6>WA4ZKO-5 Port=8 <D C P>
13:11:55T WA4ZKO-5>KB0WSA-6 Port=8 <UA R F>
13:12:01R KB0WSA-6>WA4ZKO-5 Port=8 <C C P>
13:12:01T WA4ZKO-5>KB0WSA-6 Port=8 <UA R F>
13:12:10R WA4ZKO-6>WA4ZKO-5 Port=8 <RR C P R0>
13:12:10T WA4ZKO-5>WA4ZKO-6 Port=8 <RR R F R0>
13:13:49R KB0WSA-6>WA4ZKO-5 Port=8 <RR C P R0>
13:13:49T WA4ZKO-5>KB0WSA-6 Port=8 <RR R F R0>
and more of pretty much the same...

Causes the obsolescence counter to start decrementing down for a node that is
still there:

KYWIL:WA4ZKO-5} Routes to: MOBRA:KB0WSA-6
   207 3 8 KB0WSA-6

Then eventually the node (MOBRA in this case) is gone:

n mobra
KYWIL:WA4ZKO-5} Not found

Seems most of the time the next nodes broadcast will clear things up. Sometimes
it will not "fix" itself and the route will drop out for a bit as if the other
node went off the air (but it's there).

When this happens initially, I've caught the other node with a wild (triple
digit) obsolescence count if I do a N NODECALL on it.

Example: Not the "240" obs count.

 n ctgate
KYWIL:WA4ZKO-5} Routes to: CTGATE:WA4ZKO-6 RTT=1 FR=48 B 1
> 207 240 8 WA4ZKO-6

Anyone else seeing this? If you didn't watch fairly closely you may not even
notice it (outside of brief intermittent loss of connectivity to an node) as it
usually fixes itself in a few minutes. The route drops out, then the next node
broadcast rebuilds it back.

Hi Jeff… Pardon any typos… I broke my Glasses…Theoretically, The Skip HF packet System along with the other FBB and BPQBBSs Both of which are listed in the R lines.. should have gotten messages to him routed back… What BBS did you try to send from and did not have a route for PA traffic.. you might ask the Sysop of that BBS to add routing for PA.. example if he has no on setup to forward pmail for PA thru.. Then it would  sit there.  ..

I know Pmail has been a problem for many years with stations coming and going.. And I believe that is what propted Bobs request for a National Roster.. Then we can visually look at who can handle what and setup forwarding accordingly.. Probably a daunting task for one or a few.. but would be doable with mass cooperation.

I know once traffic for PA hits one of our skipnets stations I have routing setup to get bob his messages…

But someone has to send them to one of our BBSs and if its found that a bbs does not have routing to PA.. Directly then simply add reciepients for PA traffic as it flows towards a BBS that does.  Ie in this case.. KQ0I has a route to N0RVX then to WB3DTG

Packet from Kq0i then Pactor to Wb3dtg from n0rvx..

This still needs a lot of attentions with stations coming and going and stations having down time due to problems or vacations, bad band conditions, etc,  we need routes and backup routes..  in our forwarding files.. Even when packet was dying down.> I found forward files review needed to be done regularly. One way is to watch all Held messages for unknown routes and work out a path.

Willing to discuss this aspect in depth any input welcome any way we can do this and make it easy … Would be fantastic..

Woops...that should be markkq0i@..., not markkqoi@...

And if you are asking permission from Skipnet members, you need to ask on the Skipnet reflector...not all of them are  listening to the BPQ reflector.

From my monitoring over the last few months, I've noticed some folks on the
skipnet rosters did not seem to be active for whatever the reason. Maybe the
below will help with updating..

From my notes here are some that may be off the air:

7.1005 LSB
VE1JOT
VE2PKT

7.101 USB
WH6IO-1 seen several folks trying to connect, but no go.
WD6ETH
AL7LS
WA6EWV-1 seen several folks trying to connect, but no go?
AA6QN he may be getting back on the air?

7.1035 LSB
VE3INF

10.147 LSB
N5PVL - he's on 098 though.

14.098 LSB
WH6IO seen several folks trying to connect, but no go.
W9IDI

Think I heard a VE7 station, alias "HILL" on a 40m freq but lost my notes on the
exact call/freq.

I think WH6IO shut down a few months ago? I know there was talk of it.

I don't think the message archives for this group are private, so if you've

Don't laugh too hard ;-)

Here's what happened when I tried to reply to Bob last night.

I could tell it wasn't going anywhere and just killed the message. Pretty sure
it's something I need to add/adjust on my end. Looks like it was able to get
some info based upon the WP info that comes (?) preinstalled on the BBS?

Imagine the fix is simple, but I wasn't too hip on just guessing at things and
potentially causing a problem upstream.

For now I get my feed from K.O. over AXIP and works well for getting the
bulletins. Just haven't gotten around to getting other flows/fowarding going
yet. Our main concern was to get things going within the state, then tackle the
"outside" paths later.

I recently assisted Bob, WB3DTG to restore his Packet system back to the
way it was before his lightning strike
several months ago. The config then and again now is FBB bbs port 1 on
HF Pactor. Port 2 to his FlexNet node
which is RF linked into NJ on to the Eastnet FlexNet network which
serves the Greater NYC region and the Eastern Central
Florida region. In each region it is all VHF or UHF RF. The RF regions
are linked together using BPQ32 via internet.
WB3DTG forwards to WA2SNA in NJ. WA2SNA forwards to KB2VLX in NYC area
and to K2PUT eny area
For more details please connect to eastnetpacket.net

All of the BPQ32 or XNet systems listed below have access to the FlexNet
network. and many also
forward via internet to well known HF stations in the USA That can work
both ways!

Currently On Eastnet Flexnet network:

BPQ32 or Xnet IGates. linked to FlexNet nodes

N4LEM-3 Cocoa FL N4LEM-2 -4 bbs #ECFL
N2NSA-2 NYC KB2VLX -4 bbs #NLI
KC2CWT-3 Putnam County NY, K2PUT -4 bbs #ENY
K2DLL-3 Broadalbin, NY, K2DLL-1 -4 bbs #NNY
W2QYT, Auburn, NY W2QYT
KB2FAF, Homer, NY KB2FAF -4 bbs #CNY
K2CAN, Bristol, KC2HFQ -4 bbs #WNY

Forwarding to WB3DTG can be forwarded to from anywhere on the Flexnet
network
or via HF Pactor.

All forwarding on Eastnet uses specific Hierarchical routing at least to
the local #designator
within the Flexnet network. BTW WB3DTG now is #EPA not #CEPA as he wa
previously.
