There will be no "Monday night WW Packet Chat" nets till further notice.

I figure that everyone will be busy with the holidays for the next few weeks.
Since discussion topics seem to be rare and we don't have enough software
version stability to run useful testing I don't see the need for a formal net
till further notice.

Happy Holiday's!

OK someone tell me what this line does. I have added it and removed it and I
don't see where it does anything.

MAP NODES callsign.con UDP 10093

I'm talking about the "map nodes" line as the second line below mapping a
certian node.

Are you maybe working off an old cfg file?

At one time I think BPQ32 used dual lines for each node? Now it's all in one
line and a couple "master" directives up earlier in the file.

You can still use a NODES line or a global nodes bcast line in the file.
I have not changed my file configuration since the 4.10 releases started
other than adding 2 lines for new nodes as needed.
The 'callsign.con' almost looks to me to be part of an 'example' line
for that file..? (an example domain)
Where did it come from ?

Dave,

MAP CALL domain/ip address UDP 10093 will send packets addressed to CALL to the domain or ip address specified on the port specified.

To get NODES broadcasts send to a station, either have a MAP NODES, as in your example, or put

BROADCAST NODES into the config file, and add a B to the MAP CALL line. eg

MAP CALL domain/ip address UDP 10093 B

I have the last line with the B at the end. Thanks John.

K.O. answered it too. Someone had sent me the lines to map their node and included that line also. I didn’t see where it did anything

and I had assumed it was used at one time but not now. Thanks all…

Computer 1: BPQ32, AR, and CC Clusters
Computer 2: BPQ32, and FBB with DRSI and radios

The FBB computer has the Radios hooked to it again. I want to connect the BPQ
nodes together over the network so someone can come in the FBB computer node
(-5) via RF and C DABDX on the (-5), it will take them from the (-5 node), the
FBB-RF computer to the (-2) node computer that is with the AR cluster and then
to the DX cluster.

So, someone can connect to DABFLA (n4zkf-5 node) do a C DABDX and take them to
the cluster. I tried tying the two together today using AX/IP ports on each and
mapping them together but it didn't work like I wanted. Any ideas? What am I
missing? I was getting a mapping error on the (-2) cluster machine.

That should work. I often do it for testing, Check your axip config files. Send me you config files if you can't figure out what is going wrong. Or run the BPQETHER driver. which is probably simpler for joining two machines on the same LAN.

I am doing that very thing.. but I am using two different nodes.. both BPQ32.
The first BRNSN:N0KFQ-2 supports my FBB and the local radio network.
The second MOBRA:KB0WSA-6 supports bpqmailchat and the world-wide packet network.
They are connected by LAN.

BPQEther is the easiest way to do that....I ran a
SNOS node and BPQ node tied together on 2 different
machines on the same network. Worked great.

Already found out.

Installed a clean bpq and found the settings in the bpqcfg.txt:

; INP3 Routing is experimental. The two parms which follow will be ignored
; unless activated in the ROUTES: section.
MAXHOPS=4 ; INP3 hop limit to add to tables
MAXRTT=90  ; INP3 max RTT in seconds
BUFFERS=255 ; Packet buffers - 255 means allocate as many as
; possible, normally about 130, depending upon other
			 ; table sizes.

Normaly i don't see this becouse i upgrade from an older version hi.

Danny.

Ps. in Xrouter days we used maxrtt=50 and maxhops=2 to and a net/rom quality of
10 for locked routes.

This worked ok then but now might need some tuning.

Hey Derek,

I got them working on BPQEITHER. I had to lock down the routes to the BPQ DX
node on the BBS machine to make it see the nodes (even when the DX BPQ machine
transmitted the nodes broadcast, the BBS BPQ machine wouldn't add them to it's
table, but the issue I'm having is the BPQEither port on the win98 machine is
transmitting every packet frame twice. Any ideas anyone?

One of the cool features of AGWPE is that an port on one computer may
be attached remotely on another computer.. Thus I can have AGW at a
friends house and attach it just like the other ports on my BPQ32
switch.

There is a prototype version of AGW for Linux that allows the same
functionality -- attaching a remote Linux port on to the BPQ32 node.
  http://www.on7lds.net/ldsped/

Is there any way to do that natively with BPQ32? Being able to
remote and virtualize TNC's is a very cool thing!

Thanks,
Bill - WA7NWP

I’m going thru the network here in the shack (cat5) Works awesome, Just port 4 on one machine (Win98 machine) sends the node broadcast packets twice.

Go figure. Everything else is just fine.

Just thought I'd drop a line to the group. After some discussion with John
G8BPQ I installed BPQ32 and BPQMAILCHAT on my Linux box running Ubuntu 9.10 and
WINE 1.1

The actual installation was trivial and I was able to get the system running
over my in-house LAN here without too much difficulty. I had to do a bit of
dancing with the router and ports etc but all in all getting the system to run a
AXUDP link was quite easy.

John reports similar results.

I have yet to get the KISS port running but that is a LINUX problem I think or
more properly, my limited expertise in Linux, I am far from being a Linux Guru.

I have limited the spread of the NODE listing since it is not on all the time.
But if you connect to my NODE VE3UIL-7 you will see it there if it is on the
air. I am using the Call VE3TRA.

I hope to get around to getting the KISS port running and have it on the air
some time in the near future.
