Greetings all!

Have been trying for several days to get FBB to play with BPQ with no joy. Am running WFBB and the latest 'g' version of PBQ. Have made the two additions to HKLM, both the FBBUIMask at 3 and FBBAPPL to 3 since that is the port I would like FBB to run under as indicated in BPQCFG.

Have tried to configure BPQTNC2 and feed FBB into it in an attempt to make it think it was seeing a real TNC and also tried configuring VCOM to do the same  with the result of WFBB tryiny to start but them stating it can not find the BPQ driver. Have never made it past this error.

I guess the first question is: Is there a FBB to PBQ driver that is not listed in the docs... neaither BPQDLL.DLL or BPQCODE.386 seem to be the answer.

Curreintly BPQ works fine. I have RMs running under it, beaconing, answering external calls and working with BPQTerm. WFBB is operational on its own. It has been running for about 4 years on this computer.

Anyone have an idea? I know I am probably about one keystroke away from having it work but I have just found the proper combination.

Regards;

Good Evening Edward,

This will be a bit confusing, depending on what version of WFBB 16 or 32 Bit you are running,

You need to copy the following from the BPQ32 Related Files:

bpqdded32.dll

tfwin.dll

tfwin32.dll

To the FBB\BIN folder Replace existing, it is best to make BPQ the Port allocated in FBB, if other then 1st port

Rename beacon1.sys to same port, example beacon2.sys etc.

Open FBB Configuration, Communications Configuration (second for last page) Select COM 8, and TFWIN, Save,

Next, Ports Configuration, (last page) PORT 1 Select COM 8 MUX=Number of Ports set in BPQCFG.txt,

WA8DED, Gateway, the rest of the settings, NB Ch etc. set as needed, Save Exit, Ether use File, Scan System Files if FB

Is running or Start FBB, NOTE: if you are using the AGWtoBPQ.EXE Must start First, otherwise WFBB will start BPQ32.dll

For you.

The original BPQ/VXD and BPQ selection are no longer valid for BPQ32.

If you have any problems please feel free to contact me.

Thanks for the quick response, Mike. 2130 local here so will not play with it tonight and leave it for the Friday evening or Saturday. I am one of those guys who has to work tomorrow.

Never considered the idea of using those dll's or that type of configuration so I am still way in left field, not even close. I have no familiarity with BPQ.

First quesion, I am currently running WFBB 16 bit. Would it clear things up if I configured and ran WFBB 32?

When we talk about 32 Bit version of WinFbb, there is two versions,

1 WFBB 7.00E 32 Bit

2 WinFbb 7.01-35 Known as 7.01a

the 16 bit and 32 Bit 7.00 series are the same, the one big difference is 7.00 16 Bit

uses 100% of the processor were as the 32 version 7.00E (the only 32 Bit Version)

will run at about 6%

now the other version 7.01a I would avoid, it does have several bugs that are un repairable

unless we can get the source code for the .35

I will write and send you the Port.sys using BPQ as the first port you can then add the Telnet Ports as needed

Appreciate your help, Mike. I was getting so punchy last night that I answered your E-mail and then saved it as a draft, hence it's arrival this morning.

Have never fooled with the 32 bit ver so I think I will make that my next goal. You are very correct that the 16 bit version sucks up the processor, no matter how fast the computer, it pegs at 100% and stays there. Will latch on to a copy of 7.00E at work today. My thoughts are that I need a stable base before I start piling stuff on top of it.

Again appreciate it.

I have made no attempt to run FBB under AGW. I have a AGW box down at work that I fool with from time to time, mostly to serve out to a computer running FBB. Here lately I have found running Outpost is a much better fit, over a network to FBB. The people I may be dealing with down there may not be that computer literate so the closer I can come to a "E-mail-like" program saves me a lot of questions in exercises and drills. It is a constantly changing thought pattern for me depending on changes in AGW and Outpost.

I treat the system down there as a single user BBS just to get traffic out of house to a box that is fully configured for forwarding, both telnet and radio. I am usually to busy to be fooling with forwarding problems so it is just best for me to make it someone else's problem. Unfortunately I am about the only peson down there who owns a screwdriver and knows how to use it.

Working on it!

Working on it!

the 16 bit and 32 Bit 7.00 series are the same, the one big difference is 7.00 16 Bit

uses 100% of the processor were as the 32 version 7.00E (the only 32 Bit Version)

will run at about 6%

now the other version 7.01a I would avoid, it does have several bugs that are un repairable

I will write and send you the Port.sys using BPQ as the first port you can then add the Telnet Ports as needed

A tip for those running RMS Packet on top of BPQ32 with non-RF ports.
Here is a tip if you would like to clean up the 0.000 MHz "crud"
entries on the RMS Packet Status page here:

http://www.winlink.org/dotnet/status/PacketStatus.aspx

From within RMS Packet's "Packet Channels" page:

1. Note the following settings from your RF port page, probably port one:
    a. Port Frequency
    b. On-Air Baud Rate
    c. Power
    d. antenna direction
    e. Max Streams
    f. Packet Length
    g. Antenna Gain
    h. Antenna Height above ground

2. Enable all the ports (example AX/IP, L4 Network connections) as you
go through updating the above info into each port.

3. Do the usual update button stuff, close and restart.

4. After awhile the crud entries should fade away.

I found this after experimenting around trying to get around this
cosmetic annoyance. Figured I'd get multiple entries for each
freq/call, but was pleasantly surprised when it suddenly cleaned my
status page entries up. I haven't tested what happens if you just
enable each port in RMS and don't change the info on the non-rf ports.

Best I can tell, no harm done by this.

TFWIN.DLL is used with the 16 bit 7.00 series of WinFBB. This update
corrects the 100% CPU utilization problem when running 7.00 WinFBB on
Win-XP. That problem is still present for Win-98 and probably can't
be fixed.

This new version of TFWIN.DLL can be found in the files section in the
Bpqded.zip archive.

I did as Jeff suggested and it did clear up the 0.000 MHz listings at
http://www.winlink.org/dotnet/status/PacketStatus.aspx

Then I used the feature to define remote ports configuration:

File>Packet Channels...>Define Report Ports. I did this because my
RMS application really does not have any radio ports, to get to it by
radio you use N5IN-14 which is on an adjacent machine on the LAN,
which does have radio ports.

At the above website you can find N5IN-5 as well as N5IN-14. The only
thing missing is the entry for N5IN-14 fails to include the RMS
software revision number 2.0.0.1.

I am assuming this is a problem with the RMS software, not BPQ32.

In bpqcfg.txt comment out UNPROTO= in the ports you do NOT want the Beacon on

Compile the bpqcfg.txt  (bpqcfg.exe) then in the BPQ32 Console window, Actions,

Save Nodes, RE-Read bpqcfg.bin, the next Beacon shouldn’t broadcast.

As For the L3ONLY-= John or other will need to explain.

Mike has already replied about disabling beacons.

With L3ONLY=1 the port can only be used for node-node (NETROM) traffic. It can't be used for user access.

Mike has already replied about disabling beacons.

With L3ONLY=1 the port can only be used for node-node (NETROM) traffic. It can't be used for user access.

I am running BPQ32g with FBB 700i. BPQ32 is set up with four radio
ports using KISS. I have two questions:

1. How to I disable all beacons and broadcasts on only ONE port?

2. The BPQ parameter "L3ONLY=0/1".. How does it work and how is it used?

Every so often - perhaps once or twice per day, I get a "invalid
handle" error message box on my screen.

I think this comes from WinFBB.

Any ideas how to eliminate the error condition?

Good Morning All

I have been testing the latest release of the TFWIN.DLL for 16 Bit
Version of WFBB, 7.00e, g & i, i am running 7.00I with the new DLL,
processor usage is 3-6% instead of the 100% as before, 7.00I was the
latest release of the F6FBB series WFBB, it is very stable, The SAT
Server works fine, 7.00E the Sat Server is NOT Y2K compatible, unlike
7.01-35 the 7.00 series does NOT create problems with the WPAGE'S
Bulletin Life Time works, how ever with 7.00 Series you will need to
use a Port Mapper for DNS Address's, I am using BPQ IPGATEWAY to
replace Port Mappers, Port Mapper's fail if a Ping in not received
back from the connecting station, BPQ IPGATEWAY will not fail, i have
found the IPGATEWAY to be faster with Telnet connections.

The TFWIN.DLL works with W2K and XP, it does work with W98 and ME but
processor usage will still be high, but other processes in windows
environment will be lowered.

I will place the BPQ IPGATEWAY File and Port.sys file on the refector
shortly, and are available on my Web Site, my hopes are that BBS
users will find the 7.00I to be far more reliable then 7.01-35.

Thanks To John G8BPQ for the hard work in the TFWIN.DLL and the BPQ
IPGATEWAY.

If any Help is needed as always feel free to contact me.

I still run WFBB 7.00g  with BPQ after going back to it from WinFBB and BPQ32 to use my DRSI

cards again. I have never seen this problem but good to know.

thanks,

I, too, am running WFBB 7.00i, but with with BPQ32. I do not use DRSI.
This is a very
stable system and my preference of the three Windows FBB versions.
