Details GRE Official Announcement 10/23/2012

October 23, 2012

To our valued Dealers and Customers,

Due to circumstances beyond its control, General Research of Electronics
of Japan (GRE)
is temporarily not able to manufacture the GRECOM and Radio Shack
branded radio scanners.

The Chinese Government’s plan to redevelop the area where the GRE
factory had been in
operation for over ten years finally forced its closure. Anticipating
this eventuality,
GRE was in the process of building a new factory but unfortunately the
cost of raw materials,
labor and increased taxes created a heavy financial investment burden
that could not be
effectively recovered.

GRE America continues to market, support and service the GRECOM branded
scanners and is
contractually committed to keep the Library Database updated and
current. GRE America
will continue to market, service and support Alinco’s radio
products without any interruption.

We sincerely apologize for this unfortunate turn of events. GRE is
proceeding to establish
a contract with a new factory and believes it will be able to restart
the manufacturing in
the near future.

For continued sales, service and support, please contact the GRE America
office.

Raj Gounder
Director of sales
GRE America, Inc.

My Jabra A210 Bluetooth adapter no longer works (battery , etc. ) and is no
longer available nor is the Jabra A120S.
Any suggestion for a replacement adapter with either a 2.5 or 3.5 mm plug.
I use this with Bluetooth ear piece when in a crowd.

I noticed some cheap BT adapters on eBay earlier this week. I didn't
look too hard since I am currently not in need of any, but I noticed it
had the correct size plug for the 396 (3.5mm).

Not as cheap as others, but the BTT005 looks pretty small - maybe half
the size of the A120S (about the same size, but half as thin). Looks to
be in the $25-35 shipped range on eBay.

I haven't tried these, so I can't say how well they work, but it's got
the right plug on it.

There are other units that are around $10 shipped, but they look larger.
Still, that should work. for those, search on the terms "bluetooth
adapter 3.5 -usb" (minus the quotes, of course).

Thanks Joe,
I had found and ordered a refurbished (warranted) Jabra A210 $29.95. I'll
see if it's working when it arrives.
I know my ear piece works with that one and I have a 2.5 to 3.5 adapter.

I had used cheap transmitter from eBay and it only lasted maybe 4 hours at the
most. Please let us know how long these other transmitters and ear pieces last.

I am including a screen shot, as you look at the UID (FC)
Proscan is over writing the last entry. I am using serial
port to USB converter and every thing works as it should
apart from this niggle. Is the short transmission time not
allowing the computer to catch up?
Thank for the reply
Alan

Program the channel as digital and set the audio option to
NAC SEARCH or the specific NAC code you want to hear.

You may want to upload that to the PHOTOS section of the list.

P25 NAC Option (P25-1Tr only) allows you to have the scanner search for NAC
codes or you can program a specific code for the system.
Scroll to 'P25 NAC Option' and press E/yes.
Scroll to one of two settings and press E/yes.
Search- The scanner opens squelch for any digital signal and displays the NAC
being used.
Set P25 NAC- The scanner opens squelch only for signals that include the
programmed NAC.
At 'Input P25 NAC' see Entering Text

Make sure Weather Priority and Channel Priority are turned off.

Also, if you are using Close Call, make sure it's in the CC DND mode
(Close Call Do Not Disturb).

I didn't realize yesterday when I saw an email from you that this came in via
the yahoo group. Software support by me or anyone shouldn't be done on these
groups as it boogs down the board and the board is for the BCD396XT.

Please email me at bob@...
Include the ProScan version and the name of the file that you are looking at. A
quick look is the data you posted doesn't match the format of any of the ProScan
files.

If you mean the acronym, it's in the quoted text.

If you mean what it does, it eliminates the
sampling of CC when receiving a transmission.

A follow up on this topic.
I ordered and received a BTT005 but it will not pair with my Jabra BT125
headset.
It might be because I don't think the BT125 is a A2DP profile and the
manual for the BTT005 states that it supports A2DP profile.
I don't know if that means A2DP only or what.

I also ordered and received a refurbished Jabra A210 Bluetooth adapter and
it works perfectly with my BT125.

Maybe contact the seller and see what they say.

If I recall correctly, the A2DP profile allows your headset to connect
to more than one device at the same time. For example, I have mine
paired to both my phone and scanner adapter, so when I get a call it
switches to the phone. (a very nice feature)

The BTT005 will only pair with a A2DP device. I found a Jabra A530 (with
A2DP Profile) that I had and the BTT005 did pair perfectly with it.
So, if you're planning on using this adapter with your scanner, make sure
your Bluetooth headset has A2DP technology.

OK - apparently I did something again. I cannot scan all channels which are
programmed in my scanner unless I have the function button enabled, which then
only allows me to scan one channel. WTH am I doing wrong...

You're a little vague, but do you have the System Hold function enabled?
You can tell by the flashing HOLD icon on the display. If so, hold the
HOLD button until it returns to normal (a couple seconds or so).
