I may be wrong but i don't think so BUT, u can create your own (10) "Custom
Searchs" as i did and tailor them to your limits.....

I have the 346 on order from scanner master...cant wait to get it!!! Paid $199,
plus the cost of the USB cable to program it. I dont want to deal with the null
modem adapters or serial ports in general.

I am used to the Banks and Channel systems...so I am curious how some of you
have set up your 346XT. I used the banks like county and or city locations, then
the channels were the agencies in those areas that I want to hear. Like Solano
county is bank 1, then Vallejo, Benicia police and fire were using up channels 1
thru 6, etc. I like this way or grouping things. Can anyone give me an example
of their set ups?

I downloaded the freescan software, and subscribed to the radioreference premium
access. I got a ton of stuff ready to download to my scanner once it comes in.
One thing I am interested in is the GPS side of this scanner. I dont have a
stand alone GPS anymore...my Droid Bionic is faster and more flexible than a
normal GPS. I searched for an app to let me connect my phone to the scanner via
the mini USB port, but nothing comes up. This would be the ultimate set up
because it would be portable all the way around. Anyone tried to connect the two
devices before? If so any luck???

Lastly, if you have any tips to a problem free first time set up, please let me
know. I hope this bad weather in the east does not delay my scanner from getting
here on Monday. It is coming ground via UPS, so it might me a day or two later.
X my fingers it makes it here on time.

Thanks,

Michael

AFAIK No such APP exists to output NMEA data to the scanner.

Hmmm. UpMan, I went to the link below and did what it said to do, but no joy. I
tried the key combination with the scanner in hold and with it in scan and zip,
zero, nada. I have to be doing something wrong, I would like to unlock San

search beyond Atlanta. There is no hold and nothing seems to be locked. I'm
sure I did not start it using a start up key, so I am at a loss to figure out
what I did and how to remedy the situation. It has been many years since we had
a scanner, so you may as well consider me a newbie. I have ordered an adapter
for the USB port so will try the PC programming next, but it still needs to scan
and search. Any suggestions?

Hello all!
Quick question; is there a way to "hold" 2 different systems at the same time,
or do I need to lock out the undesired ones individually?
Thanks!

Not directly. Rather than using lock-outs, the easier way to manage what systems
are scanned is by using the SQKs.

Ok, anyone familiar with this system? There are 10 systems over the entire
county. Now I read that you can program this scanner as one system with all the
freqs and then program all the "sites" in as one system to save space. But not
all of the systems use the same TGs. Can someone explain this to me? Thanks in
advance.

Sites are used to Systems that have multiple sites, not to combine
multiple Systems into one. Whoever told you that, or wherever you read
it, was wrong.

Program each system as a separate System.

For those that have multiple sites, if any, program each site as a
separate Site.

Precede it with the decimal point. For example, for SQK 46, hit .46

SQKs are at the system level for Conventional systems. SQKs are at the Site

There are 100 SQKs.

For conventional Systems, the SQK setting is found in the System
options. For trunked Systems, the SQK setting is found in the Site options.

The SQK option is available in each system - only the system type
determines where the option setting will be located.

Group Quick Keys (or GQKs) are found in all system types in the Group
options. There are 10 GQKs in each system.

When you are in scanning mode, the scanner 'hears' the tones, but they
are not 'connected' to the FTO tone decoder. You have to be in FTO
decode mode (Menu, then TONE OUT FOR...) for the decoder to be active.

Is that what you are doing?

BTW, if you're in FTO decode mode, you will not hear anything until the
tones are received. So, if you're monitoring a channel, you are not in
the correct mode.

To summarize:

Are you in FTO STANDBY mode? (Menu, Tone Out For..., Tone Out Standby)

Have you selected the correct slot?

Is that slot programmed with the correct frequency?

Is that slot programmed for 0 Hz for both the A and B tone slots?

Are you in TONE OUT SEARCH mode, and not TONE OUT HOLD mode which you
toggle between using the HOLD button. In the SEARCH mode, you should not
hear any audio until the tones are received.

Is your decode time long enough for you to see the tones (I use the
INFINITE setting so it stays open until I reset it).

I have both, and never a problem. Are you checking the L/O box next to the TGID,
