Well its been some time since my last post just below this one, and we
scannerists here in Rebanded Joliet ILL still have the same problem with the
freqy-852.7875 hearing no audio when its the CC and seeing the infamous "i08186"
in Custom Search rebanded when this freqy is used as the CC....I put Joliet ILL
rebanded in my 396XT Custom Search (works perfect in the 396XT in CSearch on all
CC's)with NO REBANDING and i see that same "i08186" come up so my conclusion is
on the 346XT some Motorola control channels with certain freqys will not EMIT
some info as to where the 346XT does not respond to the rebanding...Sure hope
some one important would read this and come to some conclusion or respond to a
good Uniden customer that has over $2M worth of scanners!!!!!

I am using FreeSCAN to program my BC346XT. I Have 3 systems setup (Fire/EMS,
conventional local police, & trunked PD)
I have no idea what I'm doing even after spending a few hours looking at the
user guide. When I first got it, I pressed scan and everything worked great.
Now I believe I pressed the wrong button. When I press scan, it starts scanning
the pre-programmed band (Marine, HAM, CB, etc..)

When I press the scan button, I only want it to scan the frequencies I
programmed in. How can I do this?

I don't use Freescan , i do all programming by hand, you must have turned on
those in the "Edit Search, i think you have to go into the menu "Search with
Scan" and turn them off or "delete" them in the "Program System" list...

Its a far cry from my old bearcat programable of years past, now I am going to
be spending lots of fall nights learning how to program it. I will be ordering
the software soon and will use this as a "brain exercise" activity for myself.
You guys will see periodic questions from me over the next few months. Proud

Before you "order the software" you might try some of the ones available online
that are either free or have free trial periods - best way to find what you like
or fits your style best.

I have one that belongs to a customer of the Radio Shack where I work. I have
just spent the last month trying to figure out how it works. All I can say is to
read the manual very closely, then go back and read it again. It took 2 weeks to
figure out how to make it work. My brain was stuck in the normal mode.Check out
the different software before you by it and make sure you can get it to work the
way you want. I am using ScanCat because I have others to program also.Mine
arrives tomorrow, to compliment the 4 RS ones that I have.

Simple. Just press MENU, then select PROGRAM SYSTEM, NEW SYSTEM, set the
system type and options, then select EDIT GROUP, then NEW GROUP, then
set those options, then EDIT CHANNEL, NEW CHANNEL, and set the frequency
and options. For each additional channel, just start at the NEW CHANNEL
step.

Two months ago, one of my customers let me use his 346 to see if I could
figure it out. He also gave me a whole lot of info to put into it. I was so
impressed that I actually bought one for myself, even though I own about 5 other
RS scanners. The only problem I was having was how to field program the unit.
The answer to which you have just given me. If I could I would buy you a case of
Heniken and your GF/wife a dozen roses. I was actually starting to think it
wasn't possible.
Don't know how to say thanks enough.

When you're on the channel, just press the ENTER key and that will put
you in the CHANNEL EDIT menu. One of the selections will be EDIT NAME.

Or, you can access it by the method I posted last night.

Twist the scroll knob. Use the 4 and 6 numbers to go left or right.

yes, you have to use the knob at the top to scroll through letters. Its a pain.
Theres all capital letters and lower case letters to scroll through along with
different characters. But you'll eventually get there

Twist the scroll knob. Use the 4 and 6 numbers to go left or right.

I note from a previous email that you are using the O/M on the CD. Note that the
web version has some updated content and can be found at:

http://info.uniden.com/twiki/bin/view/UnidenMan4/UnidenScannersUsersGuides

You should especially note the sections on programming the various kinds of
systems into the scanner in the 2nd section on that page "Setting Up Radio
Systems in Your Scanner".

But you got to admit, if you are out in the field nd suddenly come across a
frequency you want in the scanner. It sure is nice to know how to do it. Also
knowing how to do it makes you appreciate the Freescan so much more!

Way to go Ron....I know you and I had that problem, but I'm sure there were
others that 'suffered in silence'
We gotta let them know if there's problems so they can develope a fix.

Thanks for all your help on this.

Well I'm glad it's fixed, but that was an odd problem, Ron. I don't think it
affected any of the other XT models.
