Northern Arizona University ACM/CSE/BBS/D&D Alumni
*** Special Notice: Next reunion is 17-19 July 2009! ***
"Azzip And Reeb" is centered around a web of friends who went to NAU in the late eighties and belonged to either (a) the Association for Computing Machinery, (b) the Computer Science/Engineering department, or (c) the online NAU-BBS. Friends and family are also quite welcome! Our "Geek Reunions" are a great opportunity to visit Flagstaff, the beautiful NAU campus, and old friends. They are also a great excuse to reminisce about our youthful college days, and build wonderful new memories and friendships.
The first "Geek Reunion," in 1999, was an incredible success. After 10 years away from NAU, we took a nostalgic tour of Engineering, restaurants, bars, and--of course--Alpine Pizza. There was talk of computers, science, philosophy, politics...just like old times (except with more kids!).
We held our second "Geek Reunion" in August 2004. Again, an awesome turnout, including a few surprise appearances. People who were missed last time made it this time, and some who made it last time have seemingly vanished from the face of the Earth (where are you???). We toured the Engineering building again, but this time it was to say goodbye to many decades-old rooms and fixtures. The building is getting a major face-lift. In fact, we got the chance to help with a small bit of the demolition. Some of us now hold treasures as meaningful to us as a piece of the Berlin Wall. We also held a retirement party for Dr. Mel Neville, and gave him the final "Bit Chaser" award (with the traditional core-plane attached, and a quirky poem). In many ways, this reunion was a very big "goodbye" to an era.
