This is a group for parents in Arizona who have adopted, are thinking of adopting, or are in the process of adopting a child/children from Africa, specifically Ethiopia. While there is a cultural focus on Ethiopia, we also welcome and embrace other families adopting from African nations (Zambia, Liberia, etc.). As more African adopters from other nations join the group/adopt from Arizona, we will expand our cultural focus to be more multi-national.

My hope in creating this group was to eventually have not just a support for parents/ethioadopters, but also a big playgroup--
When I read the narratives of transracial adoptees, I realized that many felt like they "were the only one." I knew I didn't want Mikaleigh to feel this way. So hopefully, this group will serve as a postitive community for all of our munchkins after they get home. :)In this way, we hope to create bridges and healthy play between our children adopted from Ethiopia, our children adopted from other countries (African and otherwise), and our biological children.

Also, there will be social opportunities to practice Amharic and enjoy local Ethiopian cuisine.
