Greetings,

I would like to ask if anyone has room for one passenger on Saturday for the Memorial in Southbend. I was going to go myself, but my car is presenting complications.

If anyone is going and has room for me, I would be grateful. I can throw in for gas. Please contact me off list.

With thanks,

The Ayreton Yahoo! Group is used to post news, make announcements, and for
discussion of interest to all groups in the Chicago area. We encourage all
people of Ayreton to subscribe and receive email or digests, so although it is
not prohibited, please try to keep chatting to the local group mailing lists.

To prevent spam, we unfortunately require new members' first post be approved by
the moderators before being able to post to the mailing list. (This is better
than requiring moderators to approve every member or every post individually.)

The message archive and calendar are available to the public, not just to our
members, so please be aware of this when posting messages and calendar events.
Also, members can elect to hide their email address from being displayed
anywhere within the group. This is done so people who wish to maintain their
privacy can still get/view the announcements for the area. Members who choose
this option cannot post by sending email, and must log in to the Yahoo! Groups
page to post.

These policies are open to discussion, and any grievances should be brought up
to the group owners by sending email to ayreton-owner@yahoogroups.com

Discourse on this list is requested to be kept to Ayreton-wide issues such as
discussion on the Barony process, Ayreton Carnival and any other such area wide
issues. Discourse shall be kept civil as it is entirely possible to disagree
with out being diagreeable. Personal attacks of any kind and general rudeness
are in direct violation of this policy. The decision if a violation has
occurred is entirely at the discretion of the moderators. Violators will be
given three warnings and then banned from posting to the Ayreton Yahoo! Group.
Moderators will try to give polite reminders first before giving any official
warnings, however, this is at their discretion. Banning from posting will last
for three months and then the individual banned must draft an apology letter for
their behavior that led to them being banned. They will then be put on
moderated posting status until the moderators feel they will comply with the
posting rules of this Yahoo! Group. We encourage everyone to partipate in
Ayreton-wide discussions and express freely their opinions without worry of
reprisal from the moderators. We simply ask that you do so in a chivalrous and
courteous manner and without attacking anyone.

Greetings One and All,

I am the class coordinator for the Canton of Tree-Girt-Sea's "Twelfth Night in the Black Forest-A Hohenstaufen Wonderland" event to be held on January 12.

I am looking for more teachers to fill the schedule in 4 school classrooms.

The best types of classes are:

1.    Any kind!

2.    Topics related to Germany--to accompany the theme of the event.

3.    Scribal classes--Back by popular demand will be the All Day TGS Scribal Sandbox

4.    Music or Bardic Classes--We have access to a beautiful music classroom with great acoustics.

Please contact me off list, and only at this email address: vrayhill@...  if you are interested in volunteering to teach a class.

I am so looking forward to hearing from you!

Sincerely,

What's that? You say you shoot archery in the Barony of Ayreton...even in a part

"stoutmaker@...") with your SCA name, mundane name, e-mail address and
street address so that we can add you to the roster of the Ayreton archery
community for this years Domesday reporting and help show the rest of the middle

Know a friend that you know shoots archery, please tell them to PM me with this
information.

I would like to have this information by next Monday , so please send this by
this weekend if at all possible, as I did not get a database of this information
from the outgoing marshal, so this will help GREATLY!

With 12th Night planned as our next court, we would be happy to entertain
suggestions for award
recipients.  We still need to be cautious in posting award names, as they are
still in flux due to the college of heralds procedures. However, we can specify
what is already a standard for our ‘pretty promissory notes’ aka awards given so
far, with names subject to change:

Orders (may be given out only once)

- Riain’s Star (Youth award—name has passed)

- Fighter award (all styles:heavy, light…)

- Arts

- Service

Awards (may be awarded multiple times)

-Service: one award- multiple types (current plan is up to 7), designated by
color. Current color
designations include Orange for troop support. Blue for general
help/toting/lifting hauling, etc.

We're also happy to consider other award ideas.
Please let us know your recommendations off-list.

So long as the resultant item is one of SCA value and it is not to be used for it's original purpose, yes.
Also, the materials must be from your own stock, you can not have purchased new materials to make the piece.

For example, you take an old piece of Garb and use the materials to make a head piece.

Or you use a ladies old purse and make gloves from the leather.

I have an inkle loom you can use (I won it at the volunteer raffle at my first
Gulf Wars and have never used it, it's just the loom I don't have any cards). I
am working Troll all day, so you can pick it up from me there at any time!

access to 2 or 3 looms. If you have one and you are making it to Twelfth Night
and could let me use it for the day (it would be returned to you after 2 PM that
day.) I would appreciate it. Please plan to drop it off early if you can. I am
not sure when I am teaching I THINK it is 1 PM. Please mark your loom clearly so
we can identify it as yours.

I am in, and though I vote the Northside for distance, if we do it at Grey Gargoyles we might peak other's interest.

-V (who has so much Angora fur to spin now it is unbelievable)

I spin wool on a spinning wheel and I am looking for MORE spinners in the Ayreton area. I am hoping to have a Spinning session at my home every Second Sunday, starting the Sunday after 12th Night (1/13.) I am on the Northside of Chicago in Old Irving Park right by the blue line. Or would having a crew meet at Ida Noyes during Fighter practice be better? Talk to me. And if possible, bring your wheel, your handspindle, your curiosity to try this craft out with you and join me!

The Laurel challenges have started to come in!

From the event steward: A prize to the best rendering of the Hohenstaufen arms

From Mistress Gianetta: Most awesome German garb from any time period

Also from Mistress Gianetta: Best performance piece

From Master Robyyan: A prize for the thing that, if it were dropped into its correct time and place in history, would attract the least notice because it just fits in.

And of course an event prize for the best German entry of any sort.

Participants - let me know you're coming and what you're bringing! Laurels - there's still time to sponsor a challenge - let me know!

In service,

--Gianetta

Can we bring something that we've already made in the past that fits the theme and enter it?
