Hi all--

We had an amazing crew both planned and unplanned helping us prepare for feast.

First and foremost, the day would NOT have been anywhere NEAR successful without the awesome planning skills and knowledge base of Gianetta and Tacit.  And, an extra thanks to Gianetta for giving me the needed boots in the butt to keep me moving, planning and communicating.  At one point I got so panicked that I shut down, and it was the steady encouragement and help of those two wonderful women that made it happen.

Now, for the crew, and I really really really hope I don't forget anyone.  And I apologize now for any name slaying (spelling isn't period, right?)

It is with a heavy heart we share the news that our cousin, Baron Thomas of White Waters (Bryan Neverly), passed away late yesterday.

Our condolences go out to his wife Baroness Zafira, and their son, at this sad time.

We will pass along any news of services as information becomes available.

Unto Their Excellencies Ayreton and the good people of Ayreton does Mistress Acelina send greetings.

Baron Thomas was also my protege.  I just spent the last 48 hours with his family, both his immediate biological family and some of his extended SCA family.

There is a memorial service being planned for later this month.  There will also be fundraisers to help his family with his final expenses, including what we predict to be pretty high medical bills.  For those of you who have access to facebook, we will be posting them as they are finalized.

Thanks for all the outpouring of love and concern.  It's meant a great deal to us.

Fondly,
Acelina

I have two different set of gentles who have contacted me for crash
space for KWCS/KWAR for this weekend. Due to the event being help in a
hotel, they really are organizing crash space.

The first person is coming from Oaken

The second set of people (3) are coming from Calontir ( My Laurel &
Apprentice Brother)

Is anyone going to KWCS/KWAR and might be able to offer up crash space.

Forwarded on behalf of Thier Majesties:

Greetings unto the bards, skalds, storytellers, minstrels, jongleurs, and poets of the Midrealm from Their Royal Majesties Dag and AnneMarie.

As it is Our hope during Our reign to recall the glorious history of the Middle Kingdom, We have found a desire to select a bard for Our reign, but know, not any bard… a Champion of Bards.

In like wise, it is Our desire to encourage and recognize those who are helping to create and preserve the rich oral traditions of Our Kingdom.

Therefore and to these ends, We invite bards, skalds, storytellers, minstrels, jongleurs, and poets to enter into a competition. The competition will be in two parts. All may participate in the first part. From all entries in part 1, We will select three finalists. For the second part, those three finalists will attend Us in person at 12th Night in Roaring Wastes and perform their entry for Us and an audience. We will choose the Champion of Bards from those three finalists and make that announcement in Our court that evening. Please cross post this as you see fit--

Unto all Friends and Family of Freiherr Thomas Der Kreuzfahrer/Bryan Neverly--

His services will be held on Dec. 1, 2012 in South Bend, IN.  We are working out the exact time, and will post as soon as we get the word.  There will be a Catholic mass followed by a luncheon/remembrance get together.  Baroness Zafira asks that those who have Hockey Jerseys wear them in his honor.  SCA Garb, for those that wish, is also fine.  Thomas/Bryan was NOT a dress up kind of guy, and would sincerely appreciate the hockey jerseys or other casual dress.

Those wishing to donate to help his family with expenses (medical, final, or just living) are asked to use Zafira's pay pal account, at  BaronessZafira@...

For those coming to Toys for Tots SCA event in White Waters, there will be both a bake sale and a "hold the field" fundraiser happening at that event.

We would like to thank everyone so much for the outpouring of love and support.  And also for your patience as we got all of this together.

I'm hijacking the bandwidth for a moment on behalf of a dear friend (my old bellydance teacher) who is going to lose her job at the end of the year.  Her area of expertise is Employee Benefits administration - not general HR, but  401k's, health plans, disability, family & medical leave etc.  If anybody knows of any openings after New Year's, please let me know.

Unto all I give greetings.

Here's the schedule for the rest of the calendar year:

11/18 -- wait listed for a room.  stay tuned for updates.
11/25 -- no room.  I'm guessing the building is closed for Thanksgiving weekend.
12/2 -- confirmed for the Cloister Club (first floor)

After that, Ida Noyes Hall is closed for the semester break until 1/7/13, and we don't have room reservation assignments for next year yet.

So I need people to tell me if they want to have practice in December, because if no one is interested I'm not going to bother finding another site.  But I also need people to HELP ME FIND OTHER SITES.  Call your local park district, your kids' schools, your local place of worship that has a gym, and find out if the gym is available for Sundays in December and how much it would cost to use it for three hours.

Thoughts/comments/concerns?  If I don't hear anything back I'm going to assume no one is interested in practicing during December.

Please keep us posted on the January 13th practice, since that is the day after twelfth night and traditionally a selling point for twelfth night goers getting their fight on. We would love to be able to put that on the table for Twelfth night weekend.

Thank you very much your Excellency!

Ayreton will always be my Middle Kingdom "place of birth," and I greatly appreciate the mention.

And Hillary did a great job being sneaky, er signet (well its about the same).  She had to hide a scroll from a scribe who wanted to see the pretties.  ME.  I never had a clue!  Ask her for the story.

Greetings Ayreton!

I am proud to have witnessed two of our own called into court at KWAR this past weekend:

Yamamura Kitsune - Purple Fret
Ian the Green - Evergreen (you may live elsewhere, but...)

Congratulations to you both!

(note: there is another one out there, but the recipient may not yet know about it)

I also want to congratulate THL Hillary of Langford for surviving her first day as Lincoln Signat!

Is anyone planning to go to Crystal Ball and looking for someone to share a
ride? I'm planning on going, and would be happy to offer a ride to someone or be
interested in going with someone else.

Please answer at my e-mail address.

Thanks,
