Please keep in mind that when we are contacted by
local media, the only official representation we are
supposed to offer is via the Seneschal and/or
Chatelaine. Corporate has been quite vocal about this
lately as they want to ensure we are putting a
positive face forward at all times to the media.

It's a great pleasure that the Daily Herald has an
interest in the SCA! I hope the article comes out
great!

For those of you planning on going to Stone Dog Inn this weekend, be advised that the Dan Ryan (I-90/94 south of downtown) is under HEAVY construction.  Additionally the Garfield Blvd/55th St. exit, which is the directions we've given to site in the past, is closed!

The best alternate route is Lake Shore Drive--from Indiana take the Indiana toll road to the skyway and exit Stony Island Ave; from anywhere else, take I-55 to Lake Shore Drive south.  Complete directions can be found on our website at http://ayreton.org/stonedoginn/

Please pass the word on to anyone who does not have access to these email lists.

Good Gentles,

This school year has been a trial for one of my colleagues. His
daughter was born August 17, 2006 and has had to have two open heart
surgeries. The second was just this last Wednesday, February 28,
2007. The family has had support, but not enough financially. I am
asking you to help this wonderful giving family.

Tomorrow, March 3, 2007, at Stone Dog Inn, I will have Shop & Share
Identification Slips. If you are planning on grocery shopping on
3/5, 3/6, or 3/7 at a Jewel-Osco, they will give a percentage to the
child's fund to help with medical costs. Please consider taking one
at the event.

I will be wearing a blue coat hardy type dress, with a brown belt and
teal pouch. My lord husband and I will be at the Brewer's Guild
tasting/meeting as well.

Thank you,

Lady Bonnie Bramblette

Hey Gang,

Did anyone happen to turn into lost and found a small green plastic bag
of the following items:

A crosstitch pattern
2 bars of soaps

They were a merchant purchase that made and I thought I had packed in
my bag. I may have left in somewhere in Ida Noyes. Please let me know
if anyone turned it in. Just reply here.

Thanks,

Greetings,

My car has started exhibiting signs of venerability - enough so that
I don't trust it to drive to Mississippi and back. So, I find myself
looking for a ride to Gulf Wars. I can chip in for gas and, if
needed, help out with the driving. If you think you might have room,
let me know and we'll see if we can work something out. Thanks.

I am a little parcel looking for a ride to gulf wars. I would like to
leave around Monday- Wednesday and really need to be there by Thursday
Morning. I can either be prepared squishable in a bag, or hard in a
box for easy packing. I am currently in Naperville, and need to be
delivered to merchant row.

If you can fit me in, please let me know.

Location: University of Chicago Campus, Burton-Judson dormitory, 1005 E. 60th

you out.

you would like to come to dance, please do the following:
** Send your mundane name to ctulloch AT uchicago DOT edu (Caitlin) to be on the
member list.
** Bring a picture ID with you.

Check in with the people at the front desk, and tell them you are with the dance
group. We are keeping the list of names for the whole semester, so you can come
to any practice. Send us your name even if you just think you might come (you
are not obligated to come, but it's FUN!!). One of our student hosts should be
at the front desk to direct you to the proper room, or call Caitlin.

The Ayreton Carnival and Midlands A&S Faire is three short weeks away.  Here's an update of what's been going on and what still needs to be done:

First and foremost, we are in need of volunteers for various activities, especially people to sit at troll, watch youth, general gophers, clean-up, and heralds.  The more people who volunteer, the less time each volunteer will have to put in.  If you would like to volunteer, please contact me or the coordinator for the various activities as listed below.

Lochlainn MacGregor <MacGregorsCairn at aol.com> is the A&S Faire autocrat.  Questions and issues dealing with the A&S side should go to him.  Kristiana of Arden <Kristianaofarden at hotmail.com> is the contact for all entrants and judges.  If you are making a submission or want to help judge, please contact her.

Ravenslake is also doing a full Education Day schedule of classes-- currently there are over 30 classes on the docket!  The full schedule will be posted to the website soon.  If you have questions, or are interested in teaching, please contact the class coordinator Metylda of Ravenslake <metylda at gmail.com>.

Our fighter room has more area in it than some events!  We plan on doing many war-practice activities in addition to standard tournaments.  The Martial Activity Coordinator is Dietrich von Hamburg <davidpeg at ix.netcom.com> who is responsible for keeping everything on the fighting side running smoothly.

We still do not have a heavy marshal-in-charge!  We have enough room to do very large melees (without squeezing rapier or youth boffer into a corner), including hanging curtains that will make combat archery and maybe siege weapons possible!  If you are interested in being a marshal for this event, contact Dietrich and/or myself.

Anton du Marais <rapier-anton at hotmail.com> is the Rapier marshal-in-charge.  He's got a full day planned, including working closely with the war command staff to coordinate a Kindom War Raier Practice, Pennsic Champions Tryouts, and an Elite Unit Challenge.  Warder Christian Fournier is handling the Kingdom command side.

Acelina <acelinaofderelei at yahoo.com> is marshal-in-charge of youth boffer combat.

Shari of Ravenslake is marshal-in-charge of archery.  (I don't have contact information on hand...)  We do not have a thrown weapons marshal-in-charge either.  Please remember, archery and thrown weapons are required to be out-doors at this site, so these are weather-dependent.

Head of Troll is Phebe Bonadeci (aka PJ Reaney) <reaneypj at yahoo.com>.  I've found a place that's selling surplus mardi gras masks for $1.80/dozen.  Since most of the masks of mardi gras are influenced by the renaissance Venetian Carnivale, it was suggested we try to get surplus mardi gras stuff for site tokens and decorations-- especially now since it's right after mardi gras.

Merchant coordinator is Nadezda ZeZastrizl <nadezda_z at earthlink.net>.  She currently has 15 slots filled, and there's room for many more.  If you're interested in merchanting at this event, or know someone who might, please contact her.

Youth activities (non-martial) are being run by Evzenie <davidpeg at ix.netcom.com> and Meurig ap Cnfarch <nicothoe at yahoo.com>

The Feast's head chef is Ghita <suzanearley at comcast.net>, and head server is Fiona ni Chiardubhain <jobear_4 at yahoo.com>

We do not currently have any entertainment planned for during feast, nor any post-feast activities such as dance, bardic circle, etc.  We would definitely benefit from these activities, with so many talented bards and dancers in the area.

Any further questions, issues, or comments, please don't hesitate to contact me or post to this mailing list.

I just found out that our normal dance space at the University of Chicago is not
available this week or next, due to spring break. I'm not planning to rearrange
for this week at such short notice. I will look for another space for March 20.
We expect to be back at the U of C on March 27.

Hope to see you at dance practice next week, and for the rest of the semester.

Gareth o'Shaughnessy can be reached at 630-229-0926. He is a youth
combatant. I don't know if this is who you were looking for.

Would anyone headed to fighter practice from the northside this Sunday care to carpool? I am without car in Chicago and getting down to Ida Noyes from Andersonville is kind of an ordeal. If someone is heading that way I'd deeply appreciate a ride! Thanks in advance.

There is no fighter practice at Ida Noyes Hall this Sunday, March 18th, or next Sunday, March 25th.  The University of Chicago will be closed for Spring Break, and the building will not be open.

Hi Lord Todesco,

I have sent my check for the Ayreton event feast and site
reservation on Feb. 26th to you since I didn't see an address for
reservations.

I also tried sending you a couple of emails asking for confirmation
but haven't heard anything back. Knowing that Yahoo can sometimes
be unreliable, I figured I would try this address instead.

Could you confirm that you have received my check? If not, could I
still be put down as having reserved for feast since there isn't
time for the US Mail to get you a check if I send it today? I was
going to send another check if I had heard from you to send it to
another address or that you hadn't received it.

Just in case you didn't receive them, I have included copies of the
two emails I had sent earler at the bottom of this email.

Sorry for taking up everyone's bandwidth for such a personal
matter. I figured it would be a way to bypass any problems either
my or Todesco's Yahoo email may be having.

Thanks,

Arrienne

Here are the copies of the previous two emails I had sent:

Hi Tedesco,

I just wanted to confirm that you got my check and that I am pre-
reserved
for feast and site at the Ayreton event next weekend.
I included the email I had sent to you about it earlier.

Thanks,

Arrienne

Hi Todesco,

I didn't see an address for reservations on the Ayreton website
so I will be sending my site and feast reservation to you
(dropping it off this evening on my way home).

Thanks,

Arrienne (Ashford)

While I'm not Todesco, I have been in contact with him about the Ayreton
event.

If you sent the check a while ago, it probably was made out to
Grey Gargoyles. We have had a recent change; Rokkehealden is now
handling the money for the event. Checks should now be payable
to "SCA, Inc. / The Shire of Rokkehealden." If you've already sent
in a check made out to Gargoyles, then your reservation will be
held, but you'll need to re-issue the check at Troll.

In service,

Ryan Mackenzie

Hi Ryan and Todesco,

Ryan, thanks for your reply. I can reissue the check at the event
if needed.

I would still like to know if either my check has been received or
if I can be noted as having reserved for feast so that I have a
reservation when I get to the event (in the event feast is sold out
before I get there). I was hoping that I could have had a
confirmation that it was received (or not) in time to resend it if
necessary. Unfortunately I think at this point, I will have to pay
when I arrive at the event. Could you please put me down as having
reserved for feast (and send me a confirmation)?

Thank you,

Arrienne (Ashford)

Hello,

I am looking for a new sport for the summer. Archery seems harmless
enough and hopefully wont kill my wallet too much. Please make
yourself known to me.

I believe there is a group I know (terrible with names) from foxlake
area. I will be at Troll at the Areyton Carnivale event so look for me
there.

Lady Eleanor Ravenild
