Subject: Upcoming Japenese Foxhunt
entenwirth
Send Email Send Email

The upcoming Foxvale's Foxhunt is 16th century Japennese/Portugal
themed with what looks like some amazing archery and a scrumptious
feast.

Due to quite a few Ayreton Folks coming back from Pennsic, the very
talented head cook has pushed backed the deadline for feast
pre-registration to this Friday (yes, Friday the 19th). There are only
50 feast seats, you don't have to pack feast gear (AWESOME) and the
entire Japenese themed meal is only $12. The feast is being done by
Lady Kara Atladottir, who is known for not only her yummy foxvale
feasts but also for her recent success at Carnivale.

Feast Menu (only $12 and you don't have to pack Feast Gear)
Sake Sashimi -salmon tuna and rice vinegar
Hiyayakko - chilled silken tofu with sesame seeds and toasted nori
Yaki Gyoza- pork and cabbage filled dumplings
Kitsune Udon -hot noodle soup fried tofu shitake kamaboko (fish cake) shrimp
Hiyashi Udon -cold noodles cold dipping sauce with omelet spring onion
and ginger
Tori Dango Umeboshi -chicken meatballs with umeboshi glaze (salted
pickled Japanese plum)
Kome-rice
Kyuri To Wakame No Sunomono -cucumber and wakame salad
Namasu -daikon radish ginger and carrot quick pickles
Kyuri Asa-zuke-wasabi infused cucumber pickles
Seika -citrus kumquats pears peaches
Wagashi (tea sweets) yokan tofu-dango ichaigo daifuku
Sencha- hot green tea
Ume o-cha- chilled plum syrup drink

Please visit http://www.foxvale.org/foxhunt for more information about
the event, the inn, and the feast as well as the address for pre-reg.
Hopefully we will see tons of Ayreton people there.

Cool! I am trying to convince my non-SCA-playing hubby to come just to check out that feast! Sounds delish.

Hola Everyone,

I have managed to replace the martial activities page for the baronial stuff with the martial page from Carnivale and can't find any backups at the moment. So, I am just working on replacing it.

If you are responsible for a martial activity around the barony, please send me the details including Day of Week, Time of Day, Name of Location, Address of Location, Contact Person, Contact Phone, and other pertinent info and I'll get it corrected as soon as possible.

Also, I am still seeking a replacement for webminister. Kitsune has become the regional web minister and cannot report to herself, so the position is still open. Let me know if you're interested.

Thanks!

If I haven't already offered, I can teach How To Play Bowed Psaltery:

How to Play Bowed Psaltery - This is a beginning level class for anyone who has ever wanted to try to play a musical instrument.  The bowed psaltery is so easy to play; almost anyone can play a tune in less than a minute!  No previous instrumental ability or sight-reading is required - this is the instrument for anyone who would like to make music, but doesn't think they can.

There will be a short lecture on the historical instrument followed by everyone who wants to try it taking turns playing.

This class is not limited, but children under twelve must have a parent present.

I notice there are no A&S classes up on the website.
Does that mean there are no A&S classes?

Tabitha, trying to be helpful.

Hi Tabitha,

There are indeed A&S classes happening.  I just got the listings myself and will be adding them to the website tonight.  Thanks for your entry.  Please make sure Marie has seen it as well.

Dear Ayreton,

Tommorow, Sunday, Aug 21, Duchess Brigh will arrive in Chicago for a work conference downtown on Monday and Tuesday. She's crashing with me this trip and arriving about noon.

We anticipate having free time tomorrow afternoon, and I'd love to give her the opportunity to join us in any SCA activities in the area for tomorrow.

Are we having fighting practice at Ida Noyes? Is anyone doing cooking practice? or any special projects? Are there any great fabric/ bookstore sales this weekend? While I can't predict Brigh's preferences, it would be nice to have a lot of option to offer her!

Thank you in advance for your help! Hope to see some of you tomorrow with Duchess Brigh in tow!

yours,

Fern

As a reminder, practice will resume at Glenbrook North High School tomorrow.  I just spoke to the Captain and the gymnasium floors are finished, so even if it is raining tomorrow afternoon we will have indoor practice space.

I'm not sure if the parking lot is unblocked yet, so when you arrive check the lot between the fieldhouse and the gymnasiums.  If its still blocked, park in the far lot that we have been for summer practices.

thank you

Early notice for anyone that thought they might start something new in the
fall... Baron's Noyse will _not_ be meeting Sept. 5, 12, or 19.

I've added some reminders to the group calendar so those that come
intermittently will have a chance to be reminded not to.

Happy to have people show up to start playing on Sept. 26, or any Monday after!

Is there going to be archery practice tomorrow evening? If so, what time?

Thanks,

Would Sir Guerric (or someone to accept e-mail for him) kindly contact me regarding MKAOD class scheduling?

Much obliged!

We're thinking about day tripping to Crown Tourney by train. Anyone else
interested?

What I've learned so far:

Round trip train fare $28 (10% discount for AAA members)

Saturday, October 15, 2011
391 Saluki (CHI - CHM)
Depart Union Station: 8:15 am, Sat, Oct 15, 2011 Arrive Champaign-Urbana: 10:25
am, Sat, Oct 15, 2011

There's several bus routes from the train station to the Union (event site), bus
fare $1.00, or $2.00 for an all-day pass on Saturday and Sunday. Google
estimates the bus trip at 7 minutes. Or about a 20 minute walk, just under a
mile.

And return,

Last bus from the union looks like 6:48pm.

Saturday, October 15, 2011
392 Illini (CHM - CHI)
Depart Champaign-Urbana: 7:59 pm, Sat, Oct 15, 2011 Arrive Union Station: 10:45
pm, Sat, Oct 15, 2011

Information gleaned from:
http://www.amtrak.com
http://g.co/maps/rusf (Google map showing bus from Amtrak to Union)

You bet.
It's listed as 7-9.  But People show up early to stagger the lines.
I usually get there just a bit before 7.

The real question left is, "Is it still good with the Baron?"

There is probably not going to be any shoot the baron at Foxhunt....because I am not sure I will be in armor.  I sustained a knee injury at Pennsic (not overly serious) and being older I am not yet fully healed.  With this in mind I believe it best if I took another few days off from being in armor to be sure I am fully healed.
