Also, if there are any Ravenslake people on this list who can also provide me a list of their Ravenslake-area library demos, that would also be very helpful.

Thanks,

Mariza

Hello, everyone--

I am in discussions with the program director at the Arlington Heights Memorial Library (www.ahml.info) about having a SCA demo there sometime in the near future (we would have at least one month of lead time to plan).  They have asked if we can provide a complete list of all the Chicagoland demos where Ayreton has participated over the past year (we can include any that are already scheduled but haven't occurred yet as well). Does anyone have this information (a semi-complete list is acceptable) which you could forward to me?

This month on Memorial Day weekend we are having Kingdom A&S Faire and Crown
Tournament.

http://midrealm.org/baronyfenix/events/crown/

On Saturday the 29th there will be space set aside for games and gaming. I have
already had several people tell me that they are coming with their games and the
more that come the better!

If you have no idea how to play period games, don't worry people are happy to
show you because that means they have more people to play with. There will be
games of skill, strategy, tactics, luck and most of all fun!

Games are just one more reason to come to Kingdom A&S Faire and Crown
Tournament. See some of the best Arts and Sciences the Kingdom has to offer.
There are at least 100 entries, the most ever, at this years Kingdom A&S Faire.
You can get lost in a faire that big.

So come and see what the Dragon's populace has to offer and have some fun with
games you bring and games you play!

Greetings All,

As Adam and I are finishing up our final preparations for our move to the East I
wanted to share a few thoughts with the Barony.

Ayreton has so much potential that we will miss seeing fulfilled. I look forward
to hearing about the successes of the Barony and the greatness I know will come.
Remember all the amazing things we were able to accomplish before the group was
officially created. We did that simply by working with our friends and neighbors
as partners in our creativity. Keep hold of that. Don't wait for permission to
be awesome. Just be awesome and the Barony will benefit from it.

It has been a great experience living in Ayreton. You have our sincere
gratitude. Thank you. You helped welcome Adam into the SCA and welcomed me into
a new group. We take many memories with us that we will cherish.

Thanks to social media, we'll be in touch with your future experiences and will
be able to share our adventures.

We will have a discussion about this on Sunday either before or after

Greetings!
We are sorry to announce that the Ayreton Rapier Champion, Lady Gwynn, is
relocating to the Far East. We wish her the best and thank her for the hard
work and support she has done as the first Ayreton Rapier Champion.
Unfortunately for us, she will be unable to attend Pennsic due to this. We
really should have a Rapier Champion at Pennsic so it is that we are announcing
how we shall select that new champion.
At Ayreton Carnivale, July 9th, all who wish to be considered for the
position shall present themselves before us and they will be given a token to
wear throughout the day. We encourage all in attendance that day to seek these
good gentles out and engage them in conversation or upon the list field.
Observe them and see how they comport themselves. Before that days end, let us
know who you think would serve best as our next rapier champion.
The duties of the Ayreton Rapier Champion are as follows:

Attendance at Baronial Courts
Encouragement of the rapier community
Set an example for all
Serve at the discretion of the baroness/baron (Champions
      Battles/guard duty/schtick)

There will not be an SCA demo at DucKon.  With the other events during and the weeks before and after, I didn't feel we would be portraying ourselves at our best.

To All Testers and Users of Polypropylene Swords,

First off, thank you all for your time and input to the process - after a
considerable review and discussion at Crown Tournament today, the Middle Kingdom
is officially concluding the Polypropylene experiment and deeming the material
unsafe for use. The Middle Kingdom is NOT adopting this material. Please cease
all use of polypro weapons from this time forward. Use of any such weapon at a
practice or event is grounds of revocation of your fighting privileges. If you
have any further questions please feel free to contact me directly and I will do
my best to answer your questions.

This issue came down to one of safety with breakage of the material.
Specifically, the unpredictability and safety of how to deal with
breakage. So, all polypropylene testing is concluded and the material is no
longer allowed in Middle Kingdom lists of any type.

Please cascade to all lists and all fighters.

William of Fairhaven, KSCA OP
Middle Kingdom Deputy Earl Marshal for Polypropylene Testing.

Good news in today's 'Observer'. 2012 will be the year of Shakespeare in the United Kingdom and especially in London, to go with the Olympics.

Amongst the celebrations will be a special British Museum exhibit called London 1612: Shakespeare's Theatre of the World. The RSC, the BBC and other such organisations have lots of special plans as well.

Yummy! :)
