Greetings,

After some discussion a few of us decided we would like to
practice in a more structered format. This may not be what anyone
else wants and we do not want to force anyone to practice the way we
are going to. There is plenty of room for everyone to practice in
whatever format they choose.

With that said, if you are interested in joining us ("us" being 4
folks so far) then here is a basic format we are going to follow.
This may change as the weeks go on depending on what works best and
what we need to add/drop. If you do want to joinus in this, please
be on time (2pm).

Stretch
Warm up (unarmored):
      moving while staying in stance
      review and practice specific blows
      footwork
armored practice:
      slow sparring/work
up/down sparring (alternate taking turns fighting from knees,
one bout up, one bout down)
      regular sparring
melee practice (short but increasing as summer gets near)

thank you,
Henry of Exeter

Subject: Wonderful Art Store to stop selling art supplies BIG SALE

Goods of Evanston will stop carrying Art Supplies. Please see
announcement below.

Dear Good's Customer,

The New Year brings with it some large changes here at Good's. We
have always prided ourselves on running a full service art materials
department with the most knowledgeable, experienced staff. Because
of this focus on service, your have rewarded us with your loyalty,
trust and friendship.

For this reason, it is difficult to share with you some bad news.
This spring, Good's will stop selling art materials. Good's, like
many other independently owned stores, has been subject to the
actions of big-box chains and internet sellers who seek market share
through aggressive discounting. In this environment, it is no longer
possible to sustain an independently owned, service-oriented art
department like ours.

To show our appreciation for your loyalty, today though February
10th, you will receive a discount of 25% off regular priced items
and 10% off sale items. This will be applied only to the products
that will be closed-out and excludes items such as picture framing,
fine pens, and stationery. Starting February 11th, we will begin
marking down the art materials we have on hand.

If you are wondering what the future holds for Good's, we will be
expanding our frame department dramatically later in the year. Our
selection will be even greater than before and we will continue to
provide the service and expertise you have come to expect from us.

We know this news will come as a big disappointment for you.
Unfortunately, the current state of the art materials industry
leaves us no other options. We are truly sorry we can not continue
as your art materials supplier of choice, but hope you will continue
to turn to us for your framing needs.

Thank you for your support over the years.

Hillary,

Did you get Kinji and Sarah Von Brandenburg as servers on your list?
Kinji is my son (age 13 - he has served at about a dozen feasts) and
Sarah is Sir Guerric's and THL Acelina's daughter (age 15 - she has
served as many feasts, too.)

Was there a decision made about bidding for the regional A&S Faire?  If so, do we know when a decision will be made by the powers that be about whether or not we are the "winners"?

As in years past, the public may be spectators at the combat in the
mall. For that reason, if you set up in the Mall, we ask that farb be
hidden if at all possible. A prize and recognition will be awarded in
the afternoon for the most accurate day camp. Entry into the contest
is not required. Please come and show the public the best of the SCA!

There will be a Midlands Regional Combat Practice on Sunday, 20
January at the ROTC Armory on campus. It will start at 10 am and will
run until at least 2 pm. Take your best route to Fourth Street and go
south to the block between Gregory and Armory.

For further information, see http://www.advancenet.net/folo/Maidens35.htm

The event ends at midnight; the bar stays open until 2.

Hope to see ya there!

My apologies on not getting information or the request out earlier.  My job has blocked employees from using yahoo and google email.  I will be checking this email at least once per day from now on until after the event for peoples questions and concerns regarding the event.

Anyone who has volunteered to help in any capacity please get in contact with me.  I want to make as sure as I can that it goes as smoothly as possible.

     Xavier - Troll, checking in.

Elaine is doing sketches of site tokens. I was thinking about doing
a simple mask face as a pendant, but she has several more decorative
styles if you want me to bring her sketchpad along Sunday night.

For feast tokens, my first thought was to pre-print the menu on a
small scroll, and give that out. It's double-purpose, and doesn't look
too bad.
The second option would be to paint the masks of the site tokens,
and the painted ones are the feast tokens.

I forgot to bounce this off you in person - if we do the pewter mask
tokens and scroll feast tokens, do you want to set up a "painting table"
- either as youth activities or open-ended - for people to decorate
their own?

               In Service,
                       Xavier

I had volunteered to handle classes. Not sure if doing the A&S has any impact on that or not...I'm guessing 'not' though.

-bread
-butter
-cheeses
-marinated vegetables

Finally, there will also be a Dessert Competition.  Bring your favorite desserts and earn acclaim and coins for the Auction.
