Yes, anyone may attend. They may even practice off to the side.
They may watch the gauntlet if they desire.

Where the confusion may lay is that while anyone may attend the
practice, and anyone may watch, Only those who have successfully run
the Gauntlet may participate in the Gauntlet along with the poor sap
who is running the Gauntlet.

There has been some confusion over the need for feast gear at Bardic
Madness. The answer is that eveyone does need to bring their own
feast gear. The catering service is bringing us the food and
Lochmorrow is serving it like a normal feast. Please pass this on to
anyone you know is feasting.

Good Day to All,

Jocelyn among the many tasks in my job one of them is running the shipping department in my office.  We get a regular shipment of boxes that I would not have a problem putting aside.  The larger boxes would make lovely scroll carriers.  If at any point in time I would not have any problems donating them to the SCA instead of the dumpster/recycling.  Please let me know and I will put them aside for 12th Night.

Holiday Eating Tips

1.   Avoid carrot sticks. Anyone who puts carrots on a holiday buffet table knows nothing of the Christmas spirit.  In fact, if you see carrots, leave immediately.   Go next door, where they're serving rum balls.

2. Drink as much eggnog as you can. And quickly.   It's rare.  You can't find it any other time of year but now. So drink up! Who cares that it has 10,000 calories in every sip? It's not as if you're going to turn into an eggnog-alcoholic or something. It's a treat. Enjoy it.  Have one for me. Have two.  It's later than yo u think. It's Christmas!

3. If something comes with gravy, use it. That's the whole point of gravy.  Gravy does not stand alone. Pour it on. Make a volcano out of your mashed potatoes. Fill it with gravy. Eat the volcano. Repeat.

4. As for mashed potatoes, always ask if they're made with skim milk or whole milk. If it's skim, pass. Why bother? It's like buying a sports car with an automatic transmission.

5. Do not have a snack before going to a party in an effort to control your eating. The whole point of going to a Christmas party is to eat other people's food for free. Lots of it. Hello?

6. Under no circumstances should you exercise between now and New Year's.  You can do that in January when you have nothing else to do. This is the time for long naps, which you'll need after circling the buffet table while carrying a 10-pound plate of food and that vat of eggnog.

7. If you come across something really good at a buf fet table, like frosted Christmas cookies in the shape and size of Santa, position you near them and don't budge. Have as many as you can before becoming the center of attention. They're like a beautiful pair of shoes. If you leave them behind, you're never going to see them again.

8. Same for pies-Apple-Pumpkin-Mincemeat, have a slice of each. Or if you don't like mincemeat, have two apples and one pumpkin. Always have three.   When else do you get to have more than one dessert?  Labor Day?

9. Did someone mention fruitcake? Granted, it's loaded with the mandatory celebratory calories, but avoid it at all cost... I mean, have some standards.

10. One final tip: If you don't feel terrible when you leave the party or get up from the table, you haven't been paying attention. Re-read tips; start over, but hurry, January is just around the corner. Remember this motto to live by:

"Life should NOT be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive and well preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways, chocolate in one hand, Glass of wine in the other, body thoroughly used up, totally worn out and screaming "WOO HOO what a ride!"

Have a great holiday season!

Greetings to the Midlands,

I am in desperate need of bids for the Midlands Regional A&S.  This can be held any time before Kingdom A&S which is May 24.  I am sorry for the lateness of this request, but real life intruded.

The host group needs to provide the site, needed tables, Troll staff, etc as for any Event.  The A&S folks (myself, the Kingdom officer, etc) will have the A&S paperwork, Judges, etc.  Cooking facilities for cooking entries and the ability to have alcohol on site ( or a close alternative site with transportation provided) for brewing entries, either a large room with lots of tables for the A&S entries, or several smaller rooms, a populace room, and a Talley room are some of the things needed. Specific needs can be found in the A&S Handbook, Chapter 11, found on the Kingdom A&S page.

Please contact me if you have questions.  The Bids need to come to me and I then send them on to Kingdom.  I would very much like the Event to not conflict with any of the other Regional A&S Events, RUM (3/29) or Spring Coronation or Gulf Wars, but I understand that at this late date we need to deal with what dates/sites are available.

Thank you, everyone for helping with this, and again, I'm sorry this is so late a request.

Baroness Mor, Midlands Regional A&S Officer

Would it be possible for us to include A&S as part of the upcoming
Ayreton event?
Just thought, since there's plenty of space, as was proven last year.
And it provides a built in draw for the event.

Greetings,

As the event stewart I do not have a problem with the Ayreton Carnival event being the Midlands Regional A&S.

At the first Ayreton Carnival we certainly did go off site for
brewing entries in the A&S competition. I believe it would be up to
the A&S folks but I see few reasons not to be accommodating in this
regard. Every site has its limitations and we are very creative
folks.

Is there a Heraldry Night this Sunday? I was curious, and I'm not sure if it was cancelled this month due to the holidays.

Thanks.

I believe a local group would need to contact our regional A&S

Phebe will not be, but I should be. We can work on why your name was returned and if you like Wolfran. Give me a call around 11:30 if you intend to come.
If nothing else there will be a consultation table at 12th Night. It will be in the Fifth Proviince
if I have anything to say about it.
