SLEEPLESS IN MONTANA
ISBN - 0-380-800338-1

Lives can be torn apart in a moment, futures, hard work to build homes and
families shattered. This is what happened to the Kodiak family in Sleepless
in Montana. The family already has dark shadows: the eldest son, Hogan, is
an outsider and yet a protector to his half-brothers and sister. As an adult,
hard and haunted, Hogan returns to Montana to find peace, the rift between
his father and himself too deep to bridge. Jemma Delaney, his sister's
flamboyant friend, isn't letting him keep his lone-wolf life, not when danger
threatens the family. All the Kodiaks together again isn't an easy mix,
shadows and old wounds haunting them. Amid new and old loves, sparks fly
between Jemma and Hogan and he's pursuing more than the danger to the Kodiak
family.

I write about families and loved the Kodiaks as they come together to protect
a loved one. It isn't easy to mend old wounds and struggle with shadows, but
this family tries. I hope you'll like them, too.

THE SEDUCER

Lord Garvain is determined to bring prosperity to his remote valley by
expanding production at his linen mill, and at first he regards pretty Ellin
Fayle as a hindrance rather than a help. Can this country lass convince the
ambitious lord that true love is more rewarding than the riches and power he
seeks? Will he reveal to her the pleasures to be shared in a seducer's bed?

ALL NIGHT LONG
ISBN - 09-380-81066-2

A forever kind of guy tangles with a rolling stone kind of woman... Annie
Beckett temporarily moves in with gorgeous, forbidding Rik Magnusson in order
to unearth the last pieces of a 160-year old puzzle that's long been a
personal quest. They're soon drawn together in a passionate affair--and
while Annie tells herself she can't stay, Rik has no intention of letting her
go.

A ROGUE'S PROPOSAL
ISBN - 0-380-80569-3

Demon Cynster has seen love bring his cousins to their knees, and he's vowed
he will not share their fate...until he spies Felicity Parteger sneaking
about his racing stables. Demon remembers Felicity as a mere chit of a girl,
but now she stands before him, begging for his help, all lush curves,
sparkling eyes...and so temptingly worthy of the love he's vowed never to
surrender to any woman.

Felicity knew Demon was one of the ton's most eligible bachelors and a rogue
of the worst sort, but he was the only one capable of getting her friend out
of trouble. Her fascination with him had *nothing* to do with the power
lurking behind his devil-may-care facade, or with the desire that flares when
he takes her in his arms. She knows he'll never yield her the love she
desperately seeks, but could a marriage with passion alone--even with a man
like Demon--be enough?

WIFE FOR A DAY - ISBN: 0-380-80735-1

The last thing millionaire rancher Jack Remington wanted was a wife. He'd
just been dumped by his fiancée and felt relieved no longer having a noose
around his neck. But Jack had one huge problem--he'd flown to ritzy Palm
Beach to attend his baby sister's highfalutin' engagement ball and he'd
promised her he'd be bringing his wife-to-be. There was no way Jack could
let her down on the biggest night of her life. So, when a beguiling,
flame-haired enchantress breezed into his hotel room with a tux and a
seductive smile, Jack figured his troubles had come to an end. All he had to
do was hire the beautiful tailor to masquerade as his fiancée.
Of course, Samantha Jones thought the sexy cowboy was out of his
ever-lovin' mind. She'd never been to a ball, never worn a fancy gown, and
had no idea how to act like a socialite. She couldn't possibly pose as his
wife-to-be, but . . . Just that morning her life had gone from not so good
to absolutely dismal. She'd been fired from her tailoring job, and she had
the feeling the cops would be hot on her trail before the evening was over
for "borrowing" the tux she planned to tailor for the gorgeous millionaire.
On top of that, Johnnie "The Shark" Russo had been threatening to make her
fish bait if she didn't pay back the money she'd borrowed. Suddenly Jack's
offer sounded like something she couldn't refuse. Besides, it was only for
one night . . .

THE MACKENZIES: JAKE - ISBN 0 - 380 - 79339

In this sixth novel of the electrifying MACKENZIES series, the
ruthless owner of the Lone Star Railroad has desired Beth MacKenzie -- and
her family's railroad -- for years. But when he proposes to her, he's
motivated by revenge -- not love, and soon discovers that it takes a strong
man to match a MacKenzie woman. Beth wonders if it's too high a price when
she is forced to marry her long-time enemy to save the railroad.
Savoring dreams of the marriage bed, the handsome entrepreneur never
imagines that Beth might turn the tables on him. Smart, strong, and sassy,
like a cunning Scheherezade, Beth cleverly puts off the wedding night, one
night at a time -- but when passion overcomes reason...will love follow?

MARRIED IN HASTE - ISBN 0-380-80831-5

Brenn Owen, the new earl of Merton, has come to London to choose a rich
bride. The broad-shouldered war hero could have his pick of the season's
debutantes, but once he goldly gazed upon Tess Hamlin, he knew he wouldn't
rest until he had made London's reigning beauty his own. How lucky for him
that she was also an heiress!
Behind Tess's light-hearted facade was desperation. She had to marry
quickly before news of her family's ruin became common gossip. She accepted
Brenn's sudden proposal--without letting him know the truth.
She thought he loved her. He thought she was rich. And both of them
have a few lessons to learn about Love.

MY BELOVED - ISBN 0-380-80590-1

Sebastian of Langlinais is no ordinary man. He's a knight, a man of
learning, a crusader, an earl. He quotes Ovid and ponders the nature of
mankind, while single-handedly opposing his enemies. He is enchanted by his
bride, a fact that brings him only pain.
Juliana would much rather be a scribe than a bride. Even so, she finds
herself fascinated by the mysterious man who is her husband. Exactly who is
Sebastian of Langlinais? And why does he wish this odd bargain between them?
Why does he wear a monk's robe, and why will he never touch her?
The castle of Langlinais is an enchanted place, and the story of
Sebastian and Juliana one of a great love. When I finished writing My
Beloved, I truly didn't want to leave this medieval world. I hope you feel
the same way.

ANNOUNCEMENTS:
************************
Kathleen Eagle will attend the conference with her husband, Clyde, who enjoys
hanging out with reader-and-writer types. But Kathleen has work to do.
She'll moderate the "Titans of Industry" panel discussion on Friday morning.
Since late May she's been on the phone lining up speakers, who are all major
book buyers, merchandisers and distributors. On Friday afternoon she and
BookPage columnist Sandy Huseby will give a presentation on "How To Schmooze
Reviews." Kathleen is the Pop Fiction reviewer for the Minneapolis Star
Tribune. Of course Kathleen will be signing her new book, WHAT THE HEART
KNOWS, at the Literacy event Wednesday night and in the Avon suite on
Saturday morning. This will be Kathleen's 16th national RWA conference, and
as always she will enjoy every minute.
=====
Margaret Moore announced that there are plans to have a Beau Monde author

In memory of our lost friend and colleague, Nancy Richards-Akers, the Avon
Ladies are taking up a collection of children's books to donate to a women's
shelter in her name. Anyone attending the RWA Literacy Autographing in
Chicago on July 28th at the Sheraton Twin Towers Hotel and Convention Center
is welcome to participate.

Many shelters have a need for new books they can give to children who may
have been forced to flee their homes in the middle of the night, often
without a single possession other than the clothes on their backs. While
many people donate clothing, shelter workers expressed the desire to be able
to give children something of their own -- like a book.

We will also be asking all people attending the Literacy Signing to purchase
an extra book to donate to the shelter. Fliers containing this information
will be handed out at the door.

If you are unable to attend the signing, then we ask that you donate
children's books to the women's shelter nearest you.

Thank you,
The Avon Ladies

SOMEDAY MY PRINCE - ISBN 0-380-80293-7

Christina Dodd's fifteenth historical is the fairy tale of a headstrong
princess in need of a husband, a bastard prince in need of a kingdom, and the
madcap romance and adventure that results from their meeting at the
husband-hunting ball. SOMEDAY MY PRINCE is much-awaited sequel to her NewYork
Times bestseller, THE RUNAWAY PRINCESS.

WHAT THE HEART KNOWS - ISBN 0-380-97705-2

I confess. I love "secret baby" stories. I have a soft spot in my heart for
men who love children and want to be fathers. The complication for
parenthood that might arise from the Indian Child Protection Act has always
interested me, of course, because I am the mother of 3 children (now grown)
who are enrolled members of their father's Lakota nation. A bi-cultural
child needs both his parents. That premise and the writer's two-word best
friend--What If--gave rise to WHAT THE HEART KNOWS. Stir two other
inspirations into the idea pot--one brother-in-law on the gaming commission
at the reservation where we used to live, memories of a former student (one
among many) who was a great basketball player--and the story of a retired
basketball player, the woman who got away, the mysterious death of a tribal
councilman, controversy over casino profits, and a fatherless boy on the
verge of manhood begins to emerge. How do you squeeze all that between two
covers? The answer to that, my friends, is WHAT THE HEART KNOWS.

TO TEMPT A ROGUE - ISBN 0-380-79342-3

My name is Katherine O'Shay and I've spent the past five years posing as a
boy named Kit and riding with the Barton gang. To protect my identity I've
dirtied my face, hacked off my hair and wore baggy clothing. All was going
well until my stepbrother, Lex, was killed during a bungled bank robbery.

I had no idea my real father, a man I never met yet despised for abandoning
me and my mother, was looking for me. That's how I met Ryan Delaney. When a
trick of fate put him right in the middle of the Barton gang, no one
suspected that he was seeking information about Katherine O'Shay. Little did
I know that Ryan would see through my disguise with such ease. Of course I
didn't know then that Ryan was called Rogue Ryan by those who knew him best.

I didn't appreciate being made a fool of by Ryan. Knowing I was a woman, he
took me to a whorehouse and insisted I become a 'man'. That's when I really
became spitting mad. But Ryan seemed to know exactly how to soothe my
feathers. I'm not going to tell you how he did it, but I will say I learned
exactly why Ryan was called a rogue.

I don't want to give away too much of the book. You'll have to read TO TEMPT
A ROGUE yourself and judge if Ryan's story is as interesting and adventurous
as those of his two brothers, Pierce and Chad. Saying good-bye to the
Delaneys was difficult. They were all worthy opponents for the heroines I
created for them. I hope you enjoy all three books of the series.

PILLOW TALK - ISBN 0-380-80519-7
Pillow Talk is a story about the power of family love. It's a more intensely
emotional story than Bedroom Eyes, and I think this reflects my own personal
growth. It's also a straight contemporary, relying on the power of love
rather than the paranormal. I hope you enjoy sharing Meg and Parker's
journey of love and laughter as much as I did creating it!

NEVER TRUST A RAKE - ISBN:0-380-80289-9

Gabriel Sinclair wasn't about to traipse all over England looking for
virgins. And so, to win a drunken bet he invades a convent - intending only
to steal a lock of hair from one of the sleeping novitiates.

For his daring, he receives a death sentence.

But when he's plucked from the hangman's noose by a solemn young woman and
her enormous cavalier, Gabriel begins to suspect that even a rake can be a
hero - especially if it means winning the only woman in England immune to his
charms.

LOVING LINSEY
0-380-80040-3

I've always had a sort of nonchalant attitude toward luck--good or bad--and
figure everything happens for a reason, and not necessarily because of a
"sign". And yet, two weeks before Avon bought Daniel and Linsey's story,
inspired by my grandmother--a firm believer in superstitions--I happened to
find a four leaf clover in my flower bed.
Do I believe in luck now? Well, let's just say that I keep that
four-leaf-clover in my clutches. :)

UNDER THE KILT
My name is Lady Valéry, I'm a duchess, and I've been asked to tell
you about young Hadden Fairchild, so pay attention.
No doubt to some of you, Hadden isn't that young at thirty-one. To
me, he's a mere child. Although quite a handsome child. He's tall and hearty
with broad shoulders and long legs.
I may be old, but my eyesight is perfect.
Not long ago I determined it was time for Hadden to wed, so I sent
him off to Castle MacNachtan to meet Andra. She was perfect for him, and I
knew he would come back betrothed and happy.
He came back single and miserable. So I have taken the necessary
measures to remedy his situation. This will involve a bit of manipulation on
my part, but men are easily manipulated.
Bright and early tomorrow morning, he'll be traveling back to Castle
MacNachtan, and when he arrives Andra's housekeeper has instructions on how
to trap the wary couple into matrimony.
	 I can hardly wait.

ROSE IN BLOOM

Duncan McIntyre, Earl of Strathyre, returns to his Scottish Highlands home
of Ballynashiels for the midsummer festivities, expecting to use the event to
look over his chosen bride, a delicate English rose perfect in every way. To
his horror, he discovers a Rose of a different sort - a Scottish Rose who has
always proved a thorn in his flesh - who has also arrived to spend midsummer
at Ballynashiels, her staunchest admirer, the heir to a dukedom, in tow. Rose
also intends using the revels to decide whether she should accept her
admirer's offer. Unfortunately, both Rose and Duncan find it exceedingly
difficult to concentrate on anyone else when the other is in the room. How
can they think about marrying others when the prickly relationship that has
until now always existed between them has changed in such a confounding and
inexplicable way?

GRETNA GREENE

Margaret Pennypacker has chased her brother all the way to Scotland,
determined to stop him from making a terrible mistake. Angus Greene has
chased his sister all the way to England, determined to stop her from making
a terrible mistake. But when Margaret and Angus meet up at the border, their
siblings are nowhere to be found, and they discover that love truly does
blossom in the most unexpected of places.
===========
From: Karen Ranney
THE GLENLYON BRIDE

Lachlan Sinclair didn't wish to marry because of some idiotic prophecy. But
if he was forced to wed because of the penurious state of his clan why did
it have to be to an Englishwoman? One he'd never met?

He was at least going to see her before he agreed to this union. When he
encountered the woman who would be his bride he found his breath caught in
wonder. She was bathed in moonlight, spoke of brownies and dared him to
improvident acts. More than that, she gave him hope for the future.

Janet, in turn, needed a touch of magic in her life. What could be more
enchanting than a man who whispered her name in the darkness and lured her to
forbidden dreams?

The only problem? Neither of them was who they were supposed to be. Or were
they?

A TRIBUTE TO MOTHERS
**************************
Some of the Avon Ladies not participating in this month's contest share
memories of and words from their mothers.

1.From the mother of historical romance author Linda O'Brien:

"When Linda was about four years old, she began telling her father and me
about her three best friends, Jocko, Bimbo and Glassy - two young clowns and
a little boy with big glasses who we soon learned were figments of her
imagination. These imaginary friends existed until she was about six. Perhaps
that was the first sign of her vivid imagination and the creativity that
later developed into a successful writing career. Needless to say, I am very
proud of her." -- Rosemary O'Brien

2. From Rebecca Wade:

"She has a sex scene in her book? Surely not my author-daughter! Why, she is
just a little girl herself.....ballet lessons, Nutcracker performances,
softball games, gap-toothed smiles, listening to stories, horseback riding,
running around campgrounds all over Europe. That is MY daughter!!

You have to understand how tough it can be reading about her great
characters, the wonderful scenes, the feelings and emotions that she gives to
her novel, and yet while I read, I see super-imposed in my mind a pretty
little girl in a pink tu-tu. Then of course, though Becky has been married
five years, I get to the "steamy" parts and I have to wonder--did Becky
really write THAT? Becky was raised with love, faith and encouragement. To
see her succeed so beautifully in her life, her marriage and her writing is a
thrill to me. Somehow it goes beyond just being proud for so many emotions
are involved. She is just "MY BECKY"--and I love her to pieces! -- Her Mom,
Suzy Clem

3. From Linda Needham:

My mom was a romance reader from way back, so when I sold my first book, she
was ecstatic. Though she died a few months before its February '97 release,
the last time I saw her, she surprised me with two teddy bears that she had
planned to costume as the hero and heroine of FOR MY LADY'S KISS. She was
too gravely ill to finish the gift, so asked me to be sure to dress them for
her some day. The pair are still naked, except
for their neck ribbons, but they watch over me from their places on my
bookcases. I know, I know, Mom. But I've got to do my homework first!!!!
She was the greatest. A loving wife, mother, almost scratch-bowler,
hairdresser, fisherman, and was even a welder in the Long Beach Naval
Shipyards during WWII--who lost her sight in a welding accident for three
weeks, AND later set a record for burning a ship free of its slip-restraints
for its maiden launch; a carrot-topped dynamo who left me a legacy of
independent thoughts and unshakable confidence in myself that has carried me
through my life. Thanks, Mom. Wavin' kisses up to you!

4. From Margaret Evans Porter:

My mother is born storyteller. Her thrilling, entertaining descriptions of
our forbears, and both my parents' fascination with history is directly
responsible for my becoming a novelist. Mother taught me to read, she fed me
books--fiction and nonfiction. Every birthday, every Christmas, and many
days in between, I received books that I continue to cherish, as she
deliberately created a bookworm in her own image. She also encouraged me to
write. I intended to become an actress--and for many years I was one. But
"mom always knows best", and mine was convinced I'd be a writer no matter how
many detours I took along the way. Ten novels later, I've proved how right
she was.

I have many other reasons to thank her, too many to share. I'm grateful that
she demonstrated her love for England and sent me to school there. Together
we've explored our Scots, Welsh, Irish, and Manx ancestry. She's my
strongest link to relatives "over there" and because of her, I feel at home
in the cultures I now write about every day.

My experiences researching and writing my novels inspired my mother to put
her own tales down on paper. For my latest birthday, I received yet another
book from her--just as I expected. Only this time, it was a manuscript, the
one she's been writing herself. Attached to it was a note, politely asking
if I would mind proofreading it. Mind? I was delighted, and deeply honoured.

After hearing her boast of her daughter the writer so many times, now I can
proudly tell everyone of my mother's great talent.

Our relationship has changed a bit, I must admit. In addition to recipes and
gossip, we now exchange research tips and share our writing joys and woes.

And on this Mother's Day, along with my love, I offer her my warmest wishes
for success. She fills such a powerful, important role in my life, personal
and professional, that I'd have to live several more lifetimes to be able to
repay her for all she does and has done for me.

5. From Danelle Harmon:

Some of my mom's favorite quotes:

"The apple never falls far from the tree."
"Animals can usually find a way to get along; it's people who don't."

And one from my grandmother, now gone, that I'll always treasure: she used to
repeat this one when we complained about a boyfriend or husband: "There are
no perfect men in the world. There was only one perfect man to ever walk
the earth, and God took him back."

6. From Rachelle Morgan:

My mom recently moved from New Mexico to live near me, and having her so
close is something I've wanted for a long time. It really is hard being so
far away from my best friend. All my life, I've always known that I can turn
to my mom, whether I'm celebrating or sobbing, she is always there. We share
so many of the same interests, the same physical features, and the same
strong will. She is the most talented woman I know when it comes to crafts
and such, and can take a plain box and make it beautiful. She loves roses,
likes to travels, and best of all, she loves me. I have never once doubted
that, and if she has taught me anything, it's to always dream.

When I asked her to write a letter to readers for the mother's day tribute,
she says, "You want ME to write a letter? You're the writer!"

But great sport that she is, she did as asked, so here it is (even if it is a
little biased):

Dear Romance Reader,

Many of you have read or will read in the future, novels written by Rachelle
Nelson also known as. Rachelle Morgan. She is one of many talented romance
writers, but the thing that makes her special to me is that she is my
daughter. As her mom, I'd like to share with you a little about the
remarkable young woman behind the heartwarming stories she brings your way.

To her family and friends, she is known as Shel or Sheli. She is married to a
loving and supportive husband (David) who is a Law Enforcement Officer. They
have 5 children to whom they are very devoted. Sheli works a full time job
to help make ends meet, but her heart is in her writing. She is warm, bubbly,
and beautiful and has a heart of gold. She is honest, caring and
level-headed. When Sheli was born and put into my arms, I thanked God for
sending me such a perfect little Angel. She has never disappointed me.
Rachelle is not only my daughter and my very best friend, she is my Heart!

So as you read her books, keep in mind that this young and talented woman has
worked extremely hard to bring reading pleasure to each and everyone of you.
--Sharon Vandenberg

7. From Karen Hawkins:

I have a quote for Mother's Day!

My Mother always said "Marry for love and love money."
Of course, neither of us followed it . . .

8. From Sabrina Jeffries:

My mom is a wonderful woman, evidenced by the way she struggled to make our
childhood as normal as possible in the boonies of Thailand (my parents are
missionaries). The Thais don't celebrate Halloween, needless to say, and we
kids had always loved trick or treat (there were four of us). The year I was
ten, my mom dressed us all up in costume, then let us go trick or treating
from door to door of the three doors in our house. She met us at each door,
exclaiming about our costumes and giving us candy. It was so creative and so
thoughtful that I've never forgotten it. And every time I look at the
pictures of us in costume in front of that house, I think of what a great
mother I have!

9. From Kathleen Eagle:

My mother was the most beautiful woman in the world. She died of cancer ten
years ago. Today I received an e-note from a woman whose name I recognize
but whom I've never met. She stumbled upon my home page and wanted to let me
know that she remembers my mother. "Mary was so proud of you," she said. And
I her.

She was not a reader, but she helped me become one. She was the keeper of
the purse strings in our family. She didn't permit many frivolous purchases,
but each month I was allowed to order from the school book club. Remember TAB
and Scholastic? My mother always let me turn in my order. Three was the
magic number. Books only, none of that poster stuff, and no more than three.
Three books! I would spend hours narrowing down my choices.

My mother respected my love of books, even though she didn't read many
herself. It took me some living, but I understand that now. She let me
grow. Oh, how I miss her.

After a winter hiatus, Nancy Richards-Akers is continuing her online Virtual
Tour of Ireland [maybe a little bit of Scotland will creep in now and again
since her next book is set in both]. The April tour featured a photograph
from the Lawrence Collection at the Library of Ireland and was taken more
than 1OO years ago of Fair Day in Carrickmacross, Co. Monaghan. The music
she selected was a medley of jigs: the familiar "Irish Washerwoman" and to go
with the pic, "Monaghan." As with each of her virtual tours, the text
offered a little history, some folk lore, and a few colorful facts. This
time there wasn't an excerpt from one of her books, but she has been known to
slip in passages every now and then. If you'd like to be on Nancy's list to
receive future virtual tours, please email her at NancyAkers@....

HIGHLAND ENCHANTMENT - ISBN 0-380-80366-6

A ROGUE IN TEXAS - ISBN 0-380-80329-1

The illegitimate son of a Duke, Grayson Rhodes welcomes the opportunity to
come to Texas, work Abbie Westland's farm, and carve out his own fortune.
But from the moment he meets Abbie, he is determined to use his strong arms
to work her fields by day and embrace her through the night. But the young
widow has learned to savor the independence that the war gave her. The last
thing she wants is to be under the control of a man, but Grayson's charm soon
proves too irresistible until a reminder from her past thrusts them into a
nightmare where honor and love must battle.

I thoroughly enjoyed writing Grayson's story. My mother is British, my
father Texan so I grew up listening to my mother's initial impressions of
Texas. Moving to this vast state was not an easy transition. Some of her
stories were humorous, some poignantly sad. I hope I did justice to the two
cultures that are alike on so many levels, but still so different --
especially in 1865.

THE WEDDING NIGHT - ISBN 0-380-79635-X

I'm delighted to invite you to THE WEDDING NIGHT, my debut as an Avon
Romantic Treasure. I can't wait till you meet Viscount Jackson Rushford, the
tall, dark and, oh, so dragon-hearted hero--who is so, SO dragon-hearted,
that RT has declared him a K.I.S.S. Hero of the Month! Self-made and
politically powerful, the wealthy English mining baron meets his match--and
his dearest love--in Mairey Faelyn, a penny-poor folklore scholar whom he
forces into helping him find a legendary silver mine. But Mairy already
knows the secret to the blackguard's treasure, has vowed to protect it from
those who would ravage the earth for its riches--a secret passed down to her
through generations. And so she sets out to deceive her thunderous lord and
relentlessly lead his search astray. Delicious deception and THE WEDDING
NIGHT ensues.

THE PRICE OF INNOCENCE - ISBN 0-380-80418-2

Jack PenMartyn knows that the price of innocence is what someone is willing
to pay to destroy it. In his case, the innocence he destroys was that of
Sherrie Hamilton who he forced to become his mistress when he was a spy in
the Orient. The price he paid was his soul. He has spent years trying to
redeem himself, only to discover that his obsession for the woman is as
strong as ever when they meet again in a London ballroom.

"What evil lurks in the hearts of men? ...The Shadow knows." The Shadow knew
about all that lurking evil cause he'd been there, done that. I've always
been fascinated by the Shadow, the story of a man who fought his inner demons
while bringing criminals to justice. I always wanted to create a hero with
the same sort of dark edginess as Lamont Cranston (the Shadow's real
name....is it any wonder he turned out bad...what were his parents thinking?)
Jack PenMartyn is my walk on the dark and dangerous side.

TAMING RAFE
ISBN 0-380-79886-7

TR is the sequel to BY LOVE UNDONE, and takes up the adventures of Rafe
Bancroft, the younger son of the Duke of Highbarrow. Determined to escape his
family and live a life of adventure, Rafe is ecstatic when he wins an estate
in a card game. Selling Forton Hall will see him with enough money to fund
his travels for life. Forton Hall, though, is a shambles, and is still
inhabited by the former owner's two sisters.

When Rafe appeared in BY LOVE UNDONE, I knew I wanted to turn his self-
confidence and jauntiness on its ear, and place him in a situation where he
either had to grow up or to admit that he is beyond redemption. And doing
that was a whole lot of fun *g*.

Daddy's new hotel. So when the brass refuse to pull him off the case, that
leaves him with only one option-make her demand his replacement by driving the
oh-so-proper Juliet beyond the bounds of her good-girl restraint. But who

Stephanie Laurens
SCANDAL'S BRIDE - 0380-80568-5
To read an excerpt, visit: http://www.vicnet.net.au/~savink/scandal'.htm

This novel, #3 in the Bar Cynster series, follows directly from the epilogue
of A RAKE'S VOW (#2 in the series), where we learn that Richard "Scandal"
Cynster, Devil's half-brother, has gone to Scotland, summoned thence to claim
a bequest from his long-dead mother. Scandal is feeling restless, dissatisfied
with life--on reaching the Highlands, he learns that the purpose of the
bequest was to bring him north, so he could be presented with a proposition
specifically designed to appeal to his Cynster soul. He can, if he wishes,
marry a wild witch--one with lands most men would kill for. His role as her
husband will not be to tame her, but to protect her. Not a naturally impulsive
man, Richard is unsure if he should accept.
Catriona Hennessy has no such uncertainty--she is perfectly convinced
Richard, a London swell, will never marry her. He will shortly return south of
the border, which will be a very good thing. He's too masterful, too powerful,
to ever be her mate. However, Catriona has been told that Richard Cynster is
the one man above all most suited to be her children's sire, so she takes
matters into her own hands.
      And thereby seals their fates.
