The purpose of the list is to exchange ideas exclusively on the topic of housing needs of people with autism or other disabilities & how to plan for & meet those needs. Some of the topics that would be considered relevant are: group homes, live-in caregivers, guardianship, adult foster care, homesharing, independent living, cohousing, intentional communities, etc. Also, information related to funding such endeavors, forming non-profit corporations, grants & grantwriting, etc. Planning for our kids' futures in the form of special needs trusts, guardianship, conservatorship, etc. This list is not for the discussion of general autism topics, school problems, parenting issues, and most casual chit chat. I ask that these guidelines be adhered to in order to create a list that is distinctly different and to meet the needs of those subscribers who are genuinely interested in the topic of planning for the future of their children. Most members are parents & the nature of the discussions are naturally from a parent's perspective. Other interested persons are also welcome to join.
