Attachment Parenting Edmonton Society (APES) is a non profit
organization that supports parents on their journey towards peaceful
and attached family relationships.

We believe that attachment parenting is an approach to family relationships which strives to provide a responsive, open, and trusting environment. In this environment, children grow to be responsible and respectful individuals who are true to their authentic selves.

We believe that attachment parenting provides for the optimal
emotional, biological, and cognitive development of children while
modeling behaviours which respect and attend to the emergent needs of
all family members.

Although every family's journey to connectedness is unique, there are
several principles which help create peaceful and attached family
relationships. These principles include:

1) Preparation for pregnancy, natural childbirth, and parenting
2) Feed with love and respect
3) Respond with sensitivity
4) Use nurturing touch
5) Engage in night time parenting
6) Provided consistent and loving care
7) Practice gentle discipline
8) Strive for balance in family life
