I programmed a Pro-2067 for my buddy to use, and after 7 months, he
says Chandler isn't coming in anymore. Before I try determining
what the problem is long distance, I was wondering if Chandler PD
has changed any talkgroups?

Chandler has not made any changes that I have noticed, and I have at
least one radio on them 24/7.

I have a question for the group. Does any one else have a problem
with Glendale PD. I keep having problem with them going all wacky.
I will receive them fine then all of a sudden I loose them and there
Tx are all garbled. I do not see any cell towers her by me. I will
manualy scroll through the channles and I will sometimes get a
control channel. When I do get one it bounces around so much on the
% on my pro-96. It will go from 99% to 0% and then back to 45%. I
am gathering that is why I can not always receive them. I live in
the area of Dysart and Glendale. I am going to get the Radio Shack
800 MHz next week so hopefully that will work better some. I
receive the Phoenix system and MCSO no problem. I guess Glendale's
system is not as built as them?

Hi all,

I am hearing a funky sounding motorola sounding data signal on
866.8125mhz, one of the future Tucson area P25/Trunk freqs. It's giving a
reponse for the ID as T0101/SY177/BEE00, using the PRO-96.

I am also hearing broken digital communications on 866.075mhz, another one
of those future freqs. It sounds like what you would hear if you tried to
listen to a trunked system while staying on one frequency. It's not
following the communication.

I'm getting a talk group of 40961 and 40967, but I am sure that it is not
correct since I'm not getting consitent comms on it. But the parts that I
can hear, definitely sound PD'ish. They've also made reference to one of
the stations being temporarily out of service for the radio man to remove
his equipment.

I've hear Violet and Royal asking for a 28 on an amateur radio too,
several times. Also talk of a victim.

   Anybody else hearing this?

I was just about to send this, but now me thinks that it is simply a
looped recording that the techies are possibly using to fine tune the
radios?? I'm hearing the exact same comms and verbiage again :)

Ok, this is definitely a new system.

Here's what I can say, System Id is 177, the Tower number is 101.

The control channel is 866.8125. Associated frequencies ar 866.075 and
866.4375.

Talk Groups have been 40961, 40962, 40966, and 40967.

Base is 851.00625, with a spacing of .00625, TX Offset is -45.0

Anyone, Bueller?

I have the same problem with the 96. I don't have any problems at all with
the BC296D. Your reception should improve when you switch antennas
though. Glendale's system isn't entirely the same type of system as
Phoenix/Mesa, as it's not believed to be a true simulcast type of system.

Hi Tyrone,

Yeah, that was my posting. I've been adding some updates to the
different trunk systems to RadioReference.com within Pima County.
I've been downloading a lot of the systems information, so I thought
I'd contribute :)

Tyrone,

I've heard these two frequencies active for a while too - very
clearly from the Tucson area. They appear to be related to "Meade
Security". Every so often you'll hear a helo make a 7-minute trip up
in the Phoenix area and references to problems in Laughlin and other
Nevada cities. Still haven't figured out who this is. They clearly
give their callsign, and I did a search on the FCC site, but no joy.
And before you ask, I wrote down the callsign, but I've misplaced
it :<

John and Tyrone,

167.975 was once part of a FEMA emergency network. In Nevada in particular
it's been accused of being used by EG&G, which is a contractor responsible
for some aspects of security (among other roles) at the Nevada Test Site
(which I believe is one of the major components of the Area 51 package). Who
knows what this could be in Arizona.

But (aside from Lake Mead) once I saw some references to NTS and EG&G with
this frequency, the Mead name changed meanings to me: "Lake Mead Base" is
the old name for what I think is now called Nellis Air Force Base Area II,
which is connected to Area 51. With that, your guess remains as good as
mine. I still don't know why it would need to be heard in Tucson...

Thanks Dan,

I did carry 167.975 as FEMA, but it never sounded like I expected.
It's been more of the other roles, i.e. fixing things and security
that I've heard....oh well, it's punched in the radio, so maybe some
day we'll get an ID....

I ran across a msg in this group back in March that I believe is
related as I have heard the same type of traffic on these freq up here
in Sedona. I've heard daily radio checks, "Mead security", radio
checks and flight following. One of the below channels I believe is on
Mingus Mtn in addition to the sites mentioned. I've monitored these
freq's on a recent trip up to Utah and heard traffic on them up into
southern Utah just not enough to identify them. Here's a link to the
wapa web site, http://www.wapa.gov/ which is a possiblity.

While headed home yesterday picked up what I think was WAPA (could have
been Bureau of Reclamation)

164.275 I think on Mt. Elden
167.875 Poss on Navajo
and 167.925 poss on Roof Butte.

All of these were APCO P25 modulation in the clear. Only traffic was
flight following of a BurRec
Aircraft from Boulder City to Page, to Loveland, CO.

Can confirm it's an FBI Aircraft if you can get the tail N number . run that
through the FAA site and it'll tell you who own's it and where it's based at .
most N number's are under the wing . if you can get a close enough eye on it . i
would start searching the VHF lo and hi air band's for this airplane . it might
be using a uncontroled airport freq .

that through the FAA site and it'll tell you who own's it and where it's
based at . most N number's are under the wing . if you can get a close
enough eye on it . i would start searching the VHF lo and hi air band's for
this airplane . it might be using a uncontroled airport freq .

Today, 866.4375mhz is the control channel. The data channel is showing
866.8125mhz as an alternate control channel now. Still only seeing one of
the other associated freqs, 866.075mhz, active with voice.

This system is still testing, although audio is getting better and more
consistent.

Test Talkgroups are 40961, 40962, 40965, 40966, and 40967

I am using Pro96Com to break out the Control Channel Information Display.
This is a wonderful program, if you haven't used it, it helps with the
associated frequencies, activities (voice, control channels, ID, etc),
radios active, towers and other neat info.

Hi Tyrone,

That is a proprietary data signal you are hearing for the UP. It's used
for the track signals and controls.

They've got a few freqs in our area that they transmit the signal on. You
won't hear voice on them, or at least I haven't for the past few years :)
